.... I can't actually just opt to keep it, I would need to follow it through to the disposal auction and compete with the dealers and such. If I am to keep one (especially a 2017) I would buy myself a V8 though I have other priorities for the $s.

The last Aussie V-8 ought to bring some money down the road. WTF is going to happen to V-8 supercars now?
