How do you mount night vision forward of scope?

Looking at getting a precision bolt action rifle. I have a weaver tactical scope that I will be using. I am not sure what types of mounts are available to use night vision in conjuntion with this. I am thinking of the PSV-14 (i think this is the correct model number). Any suggestions would be appreciated.

If it's a 14 then you don't - it comes after the scope

If you want one that goes in front of scope

use the 22 http://www.nvdepot.com/scopes/uns.asp

or

or the 27 http://www.nvdepot.com/scopes/muns.asp

Personally I use a IR Laser with my AR15. That way you don't have to point a gun at what you want to look at.

Thank you Artful. If your using an IR laser, how are you sighting your target with the weapon. Is your NV helment mounted allowing you to see the IR?

See target thru NVG - once you ID the target then turn on IR emitter
IE:to on laser to see the Laser dot from the IR Laser
- you see the dot and move to on target and pull trigger - dead 'yote
_ If I can't ID the target without magnification it's too far away for night shooting in my mind.

Sync'ing the IR Laser to the preexisting red-dot sight was easy, as you can see the IR laser thru the NVG
and you can see the red dot as well (had it on the first (lowest) setting). Just merge the two together.

I used the Russian Cossack IR laser sight - runs on CR123A battery and has adjustment for the beam (funky but locks down well)

I think you can find more selection now, it was either the cheap russian or the really expensive Wilcox LAM - so I went cheap.

There are other alternatives

PVS-14 is an excelent choice but does need to go to rear of scope.

most night vision optics get mounted after the scope. A good number of new high-end tactical bolt actions have a little tri-rail picatinny mount forward of the glass. Just like the one on the M40A5.

As far as the night vision optics themselves, almost every PVS-14 I've handled has been garbage. Now these are ones I've had and my buddies had in the Marine Corps infantry, so its obvious why they suck. Maybe the civilian models are quite nice, I have no idea.
