Realistic price for type 81-1

So I have a guy wanting to trade in a Chinese exellent condition type 81-1. What on earth I should something like this worth, in a realistic world. I saw where one got bid up a few years ago for around $6000 but the reserve was not met. The market was stronger I believe in 2015 than it is now. I am thinking it is a 4-4500 dollar gun, but I’m not sure. There isn’t much to compare to. Any thoughts from the files would be appreciated. Thanks

Here it is for sale.

Here in the USA they is what 10 of them total so really is whatever you are willing to pay

I would second 4-5k ..

Question to me is does it have the box the mags etc

And is x39 or 223 I think there is one 223 model out there

Not sure about the box. it does have some mags with it. the interesting thing is that there is NO import mark on it. do the Canadians mark guns? could this have slipped across the border? or could this have been a sample gun that just did not get marked? it is a 7.62x39 variant.

If it doesnít have an import mark Iíd say there is a strong possibility it wandered over from Canada...that said, I havenít encountered any of the few 81s that made it into the US so I canít say with certainty.

That said per the 68 GCA and other laws guns do have to be import marked

Question how long is the barrel? Most of the up north but re import or brought over guns ie the MAK90 etc or the like had 18 or so barrels due to the up north gun laws for that stuff

Not having a box or other stuff normal would hurt but as there is only 10 or so know one here + whatever wandered over the boarder I would say less so in this case

Frankly if I had the cash I would go for it ..Unless a number of sancations come down we wont see anymore being imported

They are unique cool guns that are not AK in system so that is a cool thing

Also EDIT looking again I mixed up the guns it was 20 brought in pre 1989 and 3 556 that were handbrought in ..So since you said it has mags it is not the 556 gun which were the hand brought guns with no mag ..Hum

1k up north about 800 bucks us money

And I have seen them for less

Import bans man

Course you only get 5 round mags unless you mange to find a pistol marked AK mag which I dont think they are any up there

Well the guy has paperwork from when he bought it in 1989. It has the proper length barrel and I feel it is legit. If I get my paws on it Iíll take lots of pictures before it goes on to itís new home, wherever that may be.

Thanks guys

agreed that this is likely an illegal import from canada.

contraband.

The next time I hear "THE RANGE IS NOW HOT", it just wont be the same.

Max tried another question. "What sort of people live about here?"
"In THAT direction," the Jin said, waving its right paw round, "lives a Han: And in THAT direction," waving the other paw, "lives a Ming Hare. Visit either you like: they're both mad."
"But I don't want to go among mad people," Max remarked.
"Oh, you can't help that," said the Jin: "we're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad."
"How do you know I'm mad?" said Max.
"You must be," said the Jin, "or you wouldn't have come here."

It has the wrong magazine. What's pictured is a magazine for the Type 63 rifle. If you decide to sell it for 5k, I would be very interested.

Sold in 4 hours. Thanks combloc for the mag info. I have forwarded that to the purchaser. If that changes things and he backs out I will give serious consideration to your offer. Thanks for your help on this one.
