I know nothing about the collectable FAL's but for a G series that doesn't seem bad? Curious to hear what the experts here think.

The market is determined by what someone is willing to pay. That's certainly more than I would spend, but if he can find a buyer...It's not overpriced. Only time will tell. I know some unique FAL's have been selling pretty high lately. Are there any comparable guns selling for less right now?

$6k for a lightweight. It's in the ballpark if it all checks out.

That gun has been on GB for awhile...not completely unreasonable for a LW.

I don't think this rifle is the one that denny is referring to, as the linked gunbroker rifle (the light weight G) is definitely NOT unfired, and the seller does not claim it to be unfired.

Light weight G's do not have an asterisk on the lower.

I think this is the rifle denny is talking about:

Steyr 50.00

At least it's well outside the Democratic Peoples' Republic of Cook County...give 'em half a chance and they might choose to be annexed by Wisconsin.

Can someone who knows more than I do please tell me why the second rifle (standard 50.00) is $7K?

I think I 'get' it with the Lightweight G: that is collectible and of interesting provenance and category (sear cut).

I don't get it at all wrt the other rifle.

I wonder if the one from backwater firearms comes with box and papers. No close ups of the bolt/bc, or the right side of the receiver around the ejection port. Last one I sold a year or three ago went for $3000-$3500 to someone here on the files. I don't think this is one of mine.

His "Buy it now" price is $7k, there's a reserve (who knows how close that is to his buy it now price). Starting bid at $0.01, so maybe he's hoping a kid with too many dollars, and not enough cents will just hit the buy it now button.

He does not mention that the rifle is sear cut, but that is obvious from the photos. This is a big deal to some folks, to me it's just a gimmick anomaly.

Looks pristine to me, and I can see the ejector port close enough to see it "appears" to be unfired.

My personal opinion is that the unfired Browning Type II (that sold recently for $6.2k) was a decent buy. But, as I am not enamored with the Type III, I wouldn't even bid on it (even if I had the money).

50-00 on GB

I'm with limeyinaz on this 50-00 on GB. So what that it's searcut, That has always only added 200.00 to 300.00 on value in the past, MAYBE A LITTLE MORE THESE DAYS. BUT, I'd want to see pictures of the Bolt FACE on this Fal and if the serial numbers match the the receiver serial numbers that should be on the bolt/carrier which is normally the last four numbers.

The unfortunate thing is the dealer believes this to be a G series.

denny,
I can see, and have seen, you are not well versed on how an auction works.
There are still 2 days and 15+ hours left on that auction.

And...................How do you know that dealer believes he is selling a G-Series?
Did you ask him? He is not claiming it's a G on his auction page.

Has anyone bid?

Do you believe anyone will bid?

It is a stupid price, G series price, for a sear cut 50.

Denny was spot on.

LOL! Actually that's typical
There is one clown there that regularly buys up semi decent or better Antique pistols then relists them for thousands more

His modius operandi is to start them low then hold them at an insane reserve
not seen him sell much but he's been at it for years there

do a search under Antiques on GB then search Webley
he generally has at least a half dozen listed that cycle again & again

Then you have retards that demand to ship a civil war Spencer only to a FFL
idiots like that can offer bargains as most of us are not going to route an 1860s gun through a licensee
Bought two different Spencer SRCs well under a grand over that nonsense.
My intake FFL doesn't even charge me on their stupid idiocy.
He doesn't have to book it

Overall I have had near zero luck in talking sense to these morons
Had one gun shop email me back that if I persisted in trying to get them to ship me an Antique 1873 Maynard Target rifle direct hey would be contacting ATF!
I just bought the damn thing and did it their way
actually THEY were the ones violating law by inserting non regulated arms in their bound book
know a pawn broker who nearly lost his license after a compliance check revealed a bound book full of Air Guns and muzzle loaders

There have been 3 bids, by a bidder with the handle 1861musket (as denny pointed out). Probably testing the reserve price on the auction.

I agree, the 7k buy it now price is a little high, for an unfired Steyr 50.00. But stupid? Not sure..............eye of the beholder, and all that.

When you consider an unfired 50.63 went for north of 7k just recently, maybe it's justified.

But for any unfired FN 50.00 Type III, I could not justify it. I'd rather have an SAR-48.

What is a justifiable price for an unfired G-Series..............standard, lightweight, or GL (heavy barrel)?

Sorry, last time I looked there were no bids. That is a stupid asking price.

I've sold a half dozen+ in the last few years. I kind of have a feel for the price, unless it's a bidder that has no clue and runs up the price.
