Tighten up that Woo!

The most basic mod to tighten up those loose reciever joints is this one. The bottom is stock, the top shows a pressed in solid "cone" point that is trimmed more straight around the bottom. This draws the top reciever down tight to the lower.

About time a forum was dedicated, Heres my chopper with a finned SS barrel and a basic.

that cone point an easy mod to make or does it require a press or welding? i assume someone could make a slipover taper that fits over the factory one right? it would have to be real thin though as to not add too much material.

The only way to make it is on a lathe. You just cut the original little tube off and make a solid pin with a cone end. make it fit snug into the original tube and tap it in with a hammer. Done.

I will have to crack mine open and look but the play was one of the few things to bug me about a daewoo. I can't remember if i modifed a AR accuwedge ,, used a generic type of accuwedge or if it was just a plastic cap i had that fit over the lug.

This was done for me by xtriggerman extremely professionally, in stainless no less!! As I currently have almost no heavy shop tools (Picture a drill chucked in a bench vise for a lathe) it would have taken me a loong time to tool this.

I highly recommend anybody with a woo contact him for details as mine feels like a whole new gun. This is best unseen mod there is.

I can not say enough good things, instant tier upgrade.

Thank you for such a fine review!
Theres not that much traffic here on the Woo, so I don't think I will be innundated with these. But for those who are bothered with the wigglely workmanship of a stock Woo, I would bang this out for $25, shipped Priority Mail only w/ tracking ($5+there alone).
Its gotta be tight to be right!!!!!!! Be Well Folks

I have used a small spring over the rear lock to tighten the upper and lower for years now....Have few dozen cut as of this time, SoB3 is trying a few now and will report how he likes them..... only a buck a piece when all is said and done.

I simply put a couple of layers of tin foil (single piece folded over) on the "ledge" on the lower at the rear of the receiver.

With it there was some play, with it the play is gone. In a way it is acting like an accuwedge applying a bit more pressure on the upper. Doesn't rust, and if lost is easy to replace. Price? About as close to zero as you can get.

Here you go, The picture shows how drastic a oversized diameter taper you need to take up the slop in the lower frame hole. take your pictured recoil assembly out of the upper and put it in the lower frame lock up hole. WARNING.....After you see just how over sized the hole in the frame is to that lock up "tube", dont blame me if you cant sleep well....just knowing.
The tapered plug also has the lower part of the taper trimmed off slightly so as to make sure the new plug migrates the upper as far down as possible with out hanging up on the bottom taper of the new plug. A spring some where in there to do the same job is not a good idea. A spring tensioned lock up will most likely do nothing to stem barrel harmonics. A ridged metal to metal lock up is the road to squeak out better accuracy. One of these days I should bang out a few of these taper plugs.

I think a lot of people would be interested in getting one of these from you. Does $25 still seem like a good number that you mentioned before? I would say I am definitely interested.

I currently use a foam earplug between the upper and lower, however I'd really be interested in your plug if you decide to make them.

Mine's loose enough to have a noticeable rattle when handled without the foam plug. Probably only a gap of a couple millimeters, but the play was getting on my nerves. When I bought the gun someone had actually placed a thin fiberglass sheet in the frame hole to tighten it up. Unfortunately this made it so tight that I could barely unlatch the gun, so I took it out.

I cant find my drawing on the plug. So Ill do them on occasion with the "spring-less" recoil assembly mailed in to me. The play varies from terrible to so-so, but all of the ones I sold had some play.
25 plus return shipping would do it. PM me with your zip and I'll get back to you on the priority mail charge. Or figure it your self to 12458 for 6oz, small priority mail box.
