Oh yeah, round count? 80 (action part) + 30 (high power part) = 110 rds is the minimum?

A few years ago, Nuttz and Panzer were speaking of showing up wearing Rhodesian commando shorts with some Rhodesian chicken heart C-Rations

I can see Nuttz hanging a turkey neck out of his fly just to get a reaction.

I have shot about 100 in the action stage in the past, and of course 30 is exact for the target stage, but don't forget the drop-8 "fun stage" at the end of the day if we get done and have time. I would suggest 200 rounds is a much better plan. Knowing you, 110 might do it for YOU tho

Also, you said "high power part" which by context I think you meant the "target stage". Don't forget the Browning Hi-Power pistol side match in your packing

We once had a stage with 80 pieces of steel to knock down.

I'm better now...

Donít worry young lady, I donít have one either. I did pick one up on familiar dirt road in Mordor a couple of years back. Carried it for a bit on that quest. Damn thing was heavy, so I gave it to some Orcs guarding an outpost.

Will, the gentleman who organizes the HP side match, will have a loaner HP on site.

As a reminder, the stage will also make use of a machinegun, also Will's.

Hahahaha! Never miss a chance to remind him of that. ;-)

There usually are a few HPs around you can borrow and shoot for the cost of ammo. IIRC, the owners generally prefer to supply the ammonand trade you for cash so they know some doofus with a double-charge won't ruin their pistols.

Will that be true again this year, Bruce Almighty?

B17, I will have mine there as well and you are welcome to use it. I'll bring plenty of ammo so don't worry about that either.

It's included in the price for the stage.

Will loves this match almost as much as I do.

I *did* have to build an armored box for the MG to live in as it is staged downrange on the bay.

My 'stache is filling out nicely, if I do say so myself. I just wish I could grow some big bushy sideburns quickly enough to complete the package.

But since I should probably remain HALFWAY respectable at work, I'm foregoing the sideburns and staying slick-cheeked. Sorry guys...

This is the strangest "training" I've ever done for a match, BTW.

Oh yeah - and the wife wants to know if Hill is going for short shorts too. She seems to have some inside info on what that might look like.

Thought he always wore shorts and combat retread sandals. I forgot to add that 40 pound key ring.

Just was thinking about next weekend when I remember last year one of the bridges in Atlanta was out of commission due to a fire.

Is there any problems areas that I should be aware of when heading into Atlanta this year? I don't need some local sheriff following me through his County again if I can avoid it.

Avoid I-20, I-75, I-85, and I-285. And all the side streets in the greater Atlanta area.

Just remember that I-95 is flooded in SC and NC with traffic diverted around those areas. I-40 in NC is also flooded and shut down towards the eastern side of the State. While you won't (shouldn't) be using these highways, the backlash will be everywhere in the Atlanta and Greenville area. Wilmington had its first major highway reopen about 2 days ago and my son, who lives there, said it was one continuous convoy of 18 wheeler's bringing in gasoline, food and other supplies. I expect the same on the west sides of both SC and NC.

Once you hit the Atlanta area, I would say just go where it is moving in the general direction you want to go.

So, was the general consensus to meet at the usual place on Friday? Ruby Tuesday's around 6:30-7:00 p.m. Where something FAL appropriate so you can be identified as one of ours. Jimmy, you can come as you are. We are the only ones that would let you sit at our table.

That is our plan unless we hear differently?

Besides that, it may be the only restaurant that allows Jimmy in the door (at least they have so far )

Does anyone coming to RBGC have a stray L1A1 front sight post locking screw for sale?

I'm debating possibly shooting irons rather than optics and just noticed mine is gone. I've been told in the past I "had a screw loose", but I did not realize which one it was until noting it missing this morning

Iron sights today. 100 yards.

Me confirming nothing has changed since last time I shot the thing - although I'll admit that I cleaned it since being inspired by Matt's resurrection thread/post.

First target was shot 'crowding' the bull with the post. 9 of 10 in less than 2.5". Dropped the last shot (Jonathan was watching in the spotting scope). The red-ringed bullet holes were there from shooting last week, and I'm a target-saving cheapskate.

Next target was 'standard' hold, which I'm not as fond of. Couldn't hold quite as tight a group, as the 'spacing' gets away from me. This time it was fully 2.5" for 9 of 10 shots. Meanwhile, the scoring was better: 8 x 10s and 2 x 9s.

Gonna have to get lucky with Awfulhand. I'm just hoping I don't leave any rounds in the gun when the 3-minute timer goes off.

Outstanding! I'm the same way - I shoot better groups in prone with a 6 o'clock hold, but better scores in all three positions with a center mass hold. Just remember - for the FAL match, if you just keep all your hits in the black you'll win every time. Don't spend too much time looking for an X when a 10 will do just as well.

Invictus, it should be #8x36 and available at you local hardware store. You may need to chuck it up in a drill and file the head down a little.

"Edited to add" Gunplumber has some in stock for $12 and Gunthings has them in stock for $10. You can call them and have them fast shipped to Stimpy's place if you can't locate a suitable substitute like a socket head set screw.
