Slickside Colt SP1

Picked up up a minty Colt SP1 at an auction this weekend. Serial number indicates is 1968 production. Kinda cool with the slick side.

Also got a pre-ban Colt Sporter Lightweight in 7.62x39 - will probably end up selling that off.

Very cool- IIRC a 1968 SP-1 will have the 3-prong flashider as they didnít begin using the A1 birdcage on those guns until 1970-71.

Mine has the the bird cage. I suspect it is original as it looks like rifle may have never been fired.

You may well be correct. Regardless SP1s, particularly earlier ones have become very desirable. Congrats on the acquisition

$1550 isnít far-fetched for an SP1 these days so I wouldnít go so far as to say you overpaid. Enjoy it
