Red face Beginning of the end for NASsCAR?

https://www.foxnews.com/sports/nasca...und-of-layoffs

Successful businesses can do a buyout without needing to lay off five percent of their employees first, so it sounds like this is a strategy designed to shore up flagging margins as their PC BS continues to drive off fans.

Beginning of the end?

I thought Nascar died with restrictor plates, banning the rebel flag, one world cars and Dale Earnhardt?

Yep, used to watch it all the time and attend some races. It was far better in the '70s. Same with Indy Car. Got to the point I couldn't stand listening to the commentary from the announcers.

Probably a good time to check the pawn shops. A lot of their equipment ends up there. Last time they laid off a bunch (around 2004?) I scored a $3000 dollar nascar welder for 700 bucks.

I think that if engine size and car weight were the limiting factors involved, the whole race game would be better off. Let the teams use the most innovative technology to develop a winning combination. Push rods, carburetors, restrictor plates hold development to an archaic standard. Everyday drivers enjoy modern fuel injection, computer control, and overhead cammed engines while NASCAR seems from another era. Why not let teams advance the state of the art with equipment that relates to what we can use to improve on in our own lives.

That would capture my imagination a lot more than watching pseudo stock cars running circles while ignorant announcers clap their traps about subjects that no one cares about.

Was talking to a friend the other day that works at a Cup team and he said he's embarrassed to put his uniform on in the morning.

Formula E most likely. I just started watching it this season. Today was the second race aired on TV for the new season. Amazing technology and great racing. Filling the gap until Formula 1 and Moto GP come back on.

Have you even tried to watch a few minutes of a race lately?

They can't even fill up the first 3 or 4 rows of seats all the way around the track.

They've been using weird camera angles while zoomed way in trying to maintain appearances that they're still filling race tracks, but they can't even hide that right anymore.

The "Chase" did it for me. What a stupid way to decide the championship!

Nascar is now like the Deep State combined with WWF.

Retired FBI Agents now run many departments inside Nascar.

It has gotten to the point where they actually resent having to put on a race and have developed so many shithead rules, that it interferes with the actual racing, as they intend. Why? Government types like a long lunch and then golf in the afternoon. A ^&%$# race weekend ruins the day's schedule.

For example: Speeding.
WTF? It is a race. If you are one mph over the limit on pit lane, you are penalized a lap. The real solution would to be make the driver give up 3 spots on the track.

Other violations invented by assholes.

1)Too many men over the wall, or a man over too soon. WTF!!!!
2)Pit road, coming in over the committment line....... violation WTF!!
3)Uncontrolled wheel, when it did not get away. WTF!!!
4)Loose Lug nuts

All these can cost you the race. Such rules were invented to screw over those guys who were faster than Jeff Gordon or Jimmy Johnson...........we all could see it, and it boiled out blood; many fans have left over their stupid rules, invented by shitheads.

You also cannot have repaired cars on the track, and you have to be able to fix the car inside of 5 minutes. WTF???

You cannot kick the car and make a dent that gives you a theoretical aerodynamic advantage. Crashing the car to create the same effect is ok.

There are a set of degenerates/mental morons, who run the race from a control booth, but the race is always orchestrated to that Jimmy Johnson wins. Oops, Jimmy is now over the hill and cannot find his way to the bathroom, but they still try to give him every advantage.

They also try to destroy over half the competitors, who are not on the "approved list," with the above stupid violations that do not rise, to even the level of a slight advantage on the track.

It rankles them that Jimmy Johnson has not won the last two championships and only "assholes" have won.

Is it doomed? Many races have had very poor attendance over the last 4 years and attendance below 50% is not uncommon. TV audiences are turning to Golf and Baseball.

When the Bahres built the track in Loudon, NH, and shortly there after got two races, they'd sell both races out every year with a wait list for tickets.

Then at the end of 2007 they sold it to Speedway Motorsports Inc. Now we're down to one race a year, the stands aren't 50% full and you can buy discounted tickets on the day of the race. How much longer until that date is gone, too?

Death by PC when the target audience isn’t buying.

The Swamp will let NASCAR die then introduce electric car races. Tesla will win cause the Swamp says so.

How are the bike races doing? I went there pretty much every year from ‘77 to ‘90. Always camped at the top of the hill. I thought they did a nice job redoing the track.
