Question on Milrad scopes

I know the Vortex Razor and Viper scopes are great. And expensive.

Is there a cheaper option to get a good FFP scope with this kind of reticle? It has to be numbers marked.

Hagar -

Is that a Horus 'Christmas Tree', or is that a proprietary Vortex 'tree'?

Burris is doing some good scope work for low dollars. Good glass, good knobs, good warranty, lower-than-most-for-the-quality price.

From what I have seen, the terms FFP and cheap/inexpensive have never been used in the description of a firearm optic.

All of the scopes with FFP start in the area $650-700 and head upwards rapidly.

That said, the SWFA Super Sniper fixed 10X scope has what you need and it doesn't matter about which focal plane because of the fixed magnification. And under $300.

Here is the reticle:

Have you used one of these? I realize it's a $300 scope, but is it an ok scope?

Thanks for the Burris suggestion. The Burris 201032 XTR II 3x15-50mm Illuminated SCR MOA FFP Reticle will do just dandy, at around $850. I just don't want to spend $2000 on a Vortex, as good as they are.

I've got a few of their optics including two of the 10x42's. The fixed 10x & 6x are nothing super fancy, but high quality. Best value for an optic going, IMO.

The variable power scopes are very nice as well. SWFA usually has a sale around the 4th of july, the tax time sale ended monday.

I think I have decided on the Burris XTR 2 SCR, but should I get the MIL or the MOA scope? they cost about the same.

I am more used to MOA adjustments, but the MIL may be more useful.

Everyone at matches will be using mils. But if you are more familiar with MOA and will not be match shoooting then that may be the best for you

Vortex proprietary. Though not sure that’s their reticle...

Got the same bug, eh? Wonder why ;-)

After hitting a 10in gong st 525 yards with a 4x elcan on a 16in bbl carbine, I'm thinking it's worth it just to sell a rifle or two and get another top shelf scope. I'm looking for a medium contour Remington in 308

I think the new Vortex PST2 line is nicer than the Burris line for the same $$

If you really want to stretch your legs get it in 6.5 Creedmoor. Waaaayy flatter than shooting .308

For the money spent on the Remmy, you can add a little and step up to the Bergara B14 HMR. Awesome rifle in 6.5 Creedmore. Depending on the shop, priced at $900-1000.

Never heard of Bergara before, but I looked at some on GB. They have some awesome offerings..

The Remington Sendero and VS models must have achieved cult status, I cannot believe what they want for them nowadays. On the other hand, they were made much better than the crap Remington offered the last 10 years, and they won't be making any more.

That 6.5 Creedmoor has some impressive ballistics, but I'm not even going there. I have no other 6.5 calibers so don't want to get into buying yet another set of dies, bullets and brass.

I have one of these sitting on a shelf waiting for the right rifle to mount it on. My first Athlon but have seen a few at the range and spoken to several who've had a good experience with them. Under $400 (IIRC I paid $359 shipped for mine) for a FFP 6-24x50 is crazy low. I have Vortex and Burris optics but I'm willing to roll the dice at that price.

https://athlonoptics.com/product/rif...argos-6-24x50/

Here's their reticle.
