I've used an Applegate Fairbairn Combat Folder for the past 10 years.
![]() I lost my original after 8 years, and the new one doesn't seem to keep an edge worth a damn. Also the 'clasp' that secures it has a tendency to bend out over the years, I've had to take it off and bend it back several times. I've been sorely tempted to try something else lately. |

That is not my EDC knife, but there is one in the glove box of my truck, her Lincoln, and the Jeep, as well as one in the Mule and a saddlebag on my Eletraglide
![]() Does that make me old too ![]() ![]() ![]()

I like OTFs and have three. I have a Benchmade Infidel that was given to me by a good friend, but my favorite is an HK Turmoil from Benchmade. I also have a Benchmade Phaeton which is nearly identical to the Turmoil. Benchmade produced the Phaeton after the contract ran out with HK. They uped the price of the Phaeton by $100. I bought the Phaeton when my Turmoil went missing at work, it was like losing part of my right hand. A co-worker found it about 3 weeks later lying in a dark corner of the shop.

My constant companion for the last 20+ years :
A Swiss Army knife with a couple very sharp blades and some useful tools, including a very functional bottle cap lifter that has saved me from "thirst" countless times. A Benchmade 707 (smaller version of the 710) was my PC clipped in the pocket, second knife at work for many years. A larger Benchmade Griptilian, also with the excellent Axis lock, has been my usual EDC since I retired a few years ago |

Randall Model 15 Airman with SS blade, nickel silver hilt and Border Patrol micarta handle.
Have a very concealable high ride sheath for it, although a coworker spotted it the other day which led to lively conversation regarding Randall Made Knives and sharpening. Otherwise a ZT350 or Kershaw Knockout.

That knife might be a non.catalog version of a 15...
The stock 15 is one of the thickest blade stock, full tang knives they make,,,heaviest duty survival combat style. It normally has finger grooves, an ovel full thickness guard and saw teeth on the back. It was designed to chop yourself out of a downed aircraft...Ive one among the 15 or so RMK's in the collection. The fact is it's one of the heavy clubs of the RMK line..substantial heavier than a standard #1 fighting knife with the stock 7" (or 2" more) blade length. And those heavy clubs are a world apart in feel from one of the fighting designed RMK's...too say nothing about the smaller more concealable sized versions of those fighting designs. I love all RMK's, but thats just a fact,,,sorry if you thought I was disparaging your choice... Cheers, yv |

I recently picked up a Benchmade Bugout. Picked it up for under $100 with Ebay coupon.
I really like it for casual EDC. Gets the job done, low profile and lightweight. In uniform, I carry a Benchmade AFO II.

![]() RMK number 1, 14, and 15 are all made from 1/4 inch blade stock and weights are 8-10oz, , 14oz., and 10oz. respectively. The model 14 "Attack" and 15 "Airman" are full tang. My knife, similar to the one pictured above, has 3 options: border patrol micarta handle, nickel silver hilt, and stainless steel blade. Sawteeth are another available option with the model 15, but mine has none. It feels light in the hand and I like carrying it.
