That's nice. Crowley just keeps ass-raping us. Not even polite enough for a reach-around. $6.70 here for regular. For those who had the unmitigated gall to buy a diesel to save some $$ it is $6.81.

They won't drop the prices here until it is outstandingly embarrassing for them, then they might drop the .15 cents. This is what they did last time prices dropped precipitously.

I think you're wasting your time if you try to apply logic to energy prices. Especially gasoline. The market is not rational.

Not exactly, the price dropped in September/October 2004. During the summer of 2004 it was at or over $4 per gallon.

The World Wide Ponzi scheme of creating "wealth" from printing money backed by nothing is collapsing. The debt bubble has burst.

All demand for resources in going down, which lowers the price.

Great news prices are going to continue down, bad news we are going into a world wide depression.
Standards of living will drop appropriately.

No ladies and gentlemen, oil is not falling from the sky like manna from heaven. No ladies and gentlemen, the Bakken shale is not a global oil supply game changer. Yes, the Saudis are purposefully crashing the price. Yes, demand is plunging as the world economy tips into recession. So where does this leave us? In a very, very bad position. First of all, just like all of the other “stimulus” this is a band-aid kick the can down the road move. Sure the Saudis can live with low oil prices for a while, but certainly not forever as their population is young, restless and needs consistent payoffs. Second, all of the new sources of supply are expensive, such as oil shale, oil sands and deepwater. Projects will be canceled en masse at these prices. Then, when the Central Planners of the world finally give in with the Big Print oil will skyrocket higher as confetti money meets supply declines and any economic recovery gets stopped dead in its tracks once again. Also, what about the fact that oil shale has been one of the highlights of the U.S. economy over the last few years. You think it is just a coincidence that North Dakota has the lowest unemployment rate in the United States at 3%? Of course not. The oil boom has been the one bright spot in this disaster financial ghetto economy we’ve got, and at $80 oil that doesn’t work. The oil shale workers can sadly now join the ranks of Obama’s food stamp nation.

When oil breaks below $75 barrel, it is no longer profitable to drill in the USA. A well currently has a 10M price tag to drill because of all the hoops that have to be jumped through.

I’ve been out of the oilfield for about 7 years but, if I had to guess, prices could drop to $55/bbl and it would still be worth drilling for

Can't say I am on any.

What are you on that makes the Medicare Prescription Drug, Improvement, and Modernization Act different than Obamacare? Does just alcohol alone do it or what?

I don't think anyone holds Bush or other previous administrations harmless for our governments INSANE SPENDING PRACTICES nor does anyone claim that OBAMA holds a PATENT or COPYRIGHT on that spending but the degree of deficet spending and dramatic growth in the National debt during his administration IS UNPRECEDENTED.

We have in my lifetime made several similar quantum leaps in spending and in my humble opinion, all who contributed to the crazy spending are to blame.

There was the lie of the "PEACE DIVIDEND" after the end of the Cold War, just another excuse to spend wildly, LBJs "GREAT SOCIETY" which, truth be known had its roots going back to the Congresss in session in 1957 when it was decided that the SOCIAL SECURITY "TRUST FUND" was so flush that "...it could never go broke....." again just more lies to excuse, justify,INSANE SPENDING.

Its just now that the 'average citizen' has finally noticed the draw down of the water table in spite of a well known drought.

The increasing deficit is the difference between spending and revenues.
It has increased dramatically under Obama because revenues have fallen.

Two solutions, slash spending or increase taxes.
Neither party is willing to slash spending. Slash as in terminate whole agencies, programs and seriously cut defense.
And the repubs are unwilling to raise taxes.

So even though Obama is part of the problem, he isn't THE problem.

Actually the voters are the problem. They want congress to keep spending more than they take in and are sending the big spenders back every election.

Has been just below $3 for "cash" for about a week in the rural areas around here (N. Florida, S. Georgia) and I just saw some this morning for $2.99 in town for any payment method (credit). Just in time for my driving vacation next week!

Gas hit $3 after Katrina in '05 but you are on the right track. Obama is Bush's victim so it's okay to celebrate the less than $3 a gallon mark that has been breached.

Obama isn't Bush's victim, just the guy who is keeping everything on the same path as Bush, Clinton, Bush, Reagan, and so on.

well I want to see diesel down to what it was when I was a little kid ...........

0.099/gal well, that was high sulphur diesel
hey, I can dream .......

gas when I was a senior in High School was 0.269/gal for regular

Sunoco 260 (basically racing fuel) was 0.299/gal ..... I could run all week long
on a tank of that & dropping into 2nd gear coming down the north side of the
mountain at night you could look in the rear view mirror and see the blue flames
popping coming off the dual exhaust pipes

So who ordered the price drop in gas to make Obama look better before the election? I still remember after he was elected but before he took the Oath of Office it dropped way down to boost the happiness of the public.

I think it has more do do with very low demand due to the world economic slump. However, Iranian action in the Gulf of Hormuz is sure to inflate the price again.

If the Iranians don't like Obama, they should torpedo an oil tanker right before the election..............

Gas jumped to 3.89 a couple of days ago. 4.40 gas will keep a brother closer to home.

Anyone seeing a pattern here?
Quote:
But an unusually bitter and public fight is breaking out right now between the farmers who grow corn and other farmers who need to buy that corn.

There are two reasons. The first is the drought that's killing corn and soybean fields across the Midwest, sending feed prices are soaring and fraying the nerves of livestock producers, who are wondering whether they'll even manage to stay in business.

The second reason is ethanol.

Farmers who raise America's cattle, hogs, and chickens never appreciated Washington's infatuation with biofuels — especially ethanol that's produced from corn. After all, when the government nudges more corn toward ethanol factories, it means that there's less available for animals. Last year, in fact, 40 percent of the country's corn harvest went to ethanol production.

Well, last summer it was an blowout in the pipeline to Indiana that "spiked" the prices, so, it looks like these convenient burn ups and blowouts are common every summer if you look at the past 2 DECADES?
