Sporting clays - 4 man team fundraiser

I have been "volunteered" to shoot in a customer sponsored fundraiser that is a sporting clay shoot with 4 man teams. About the extent of the info on the website says "shotgun start".

Does anyone know how one of these work and how they are scored?

In golf it means that everyone will go to a tee and then start in rotation till they cover the course. Not everyone starts at the 1st tee like you see in a real tournament,

I would imagine that they will cart the teams to some of the further out stations and drop them off. When it's time to blast, everyone starts blasting at their station and moves to the next after the foursome in front has moved on.

I suppose this should be a "duh moment" for me. That makes sense.

In my defense, I gave up golf and have not done a golf scramble in almost 20 years.

I use to shoot in an annual sporting clays event, 50 or 100 shots. Most find the rabbit station most challenging. I believe there are videos on youtube. Enjoy, it's a good event. I don't like golfing

I haven't golfed or shot clays in years. I like both. I find the long range from behind flying straight over you rising with a modified choke impossible.

Should be 50 shots across 9 stations. Some will be report pairs, which means the second pigeon is launched at the report of the first shot. Some will be true pairs; both pigeons at the same time. Keep your gun unloaded until your in the stand, load two shells, shoulder your gun, yell ďpullĒ, break both birds, rinse repeat.

Have fun!

Ask Elmer, he should know!

Always seems to hunting/shooting something with his shot gun.

But wait a little while, says he's busy right now.

I shot this match today and what a blast!!! 100 rounds fired per shooter over 16 stations. We sponsored two stations and so we had two 4-man teams. Me and two others from my company plus five customers made up the eight guys. You could not ask for a better bunch of guys to spend time with or for better weather. Absolutely an excellent day!!!

This shoot was the first of what is planned to be an annual fundraiser and I certainly hope to be back again next year, plus I think I have found a new hobby to dabble with

Life is good brothers

I like clays. Only been a couple of times. Man the 1st time my ole A5 beat may shoulder to death. It was 50 years old and the recoil spring had never been changed along with the bronze thingamajig. Wish I could do it more.

PS - I was wearing an FAL hat today and a guy came up to me and started talking FALs. Turns out he is one of our newer members here (who can identify himself if he chooses) and was really a great guy to meet!
