Obama's Memorial Speech: prelude to ending assault rifles?
I heard some of Obama's memorial speech tonight. It sounded a lot like a prelude to gun control and I don't think he's stopping at banning high capacity mags. He said, in regards to changes in the future if we can save one child it will be worth it. I hope he means making mental health care more available but I don't think that's what he meant? I considered everyone paranoid for taking part in the buying frenzy but I'm beginning to think differently.
We are definitely screwed in Colorado. Prior to the shooting there was a story about our Governor bringing up gun control in our Democratic controlled House and Senate. The shooting was icing on the cake for Colorado democrats. I don't think the Southern states will succumb to pressure but the rest of us will. Texas is looking like a lot nicer place to live. |

If he meant mental health care, he'd be wiping out a major democrat constituency....

Remember, in his first term, he ran Fast And Furious as a program to generate an excuse to increase gun control. It backfired, but now he's got some new prime excuses all lined up. |

There are times in the past four years that i have thought the gun/ammo hoarding was getting excessive. However, when you look at what Obama had advocated for in the past as a senator from IL it isnt far fetched to expect sweeping anti-gun legislation. I have been fortunate enough to have a decent paying job and I make it a point to buy something gun related every month, an investment plan if you will. IMHO its not a matter of if but when semi auto's will be effectively banned. After all, they were once before (94-04)

This new anti-gun push will be the strongest yet riding on the emotions created by the horrific massacre last Friday, but what concerns me most is Obama's hint that he (the whitehouse) will do something even if no one likes it. Sounds unilateral to me. He's seems more like a dictator than ever before.

A popular saying in Africa is "One Man, One Vote, One Time". Too many newly elected 3rd and 4th world "presidents" decide that once they are in office they want to stay there and loot the treasury and kill off all opposition on general principles.
Obama has had two votes and knowing that he will never see another I believe that he would like nothing better than to adopt the above phrase in quotes. Just like a good Kommunist Dictator..... And so it goes. The Retired One |

It's not just teh pres to blame but the morons that voted him in. We need to move to the state where the majority thinks like us and then secede via a petition that contains 80% or greater of that states citizens.

'Never waste a crisis'. You can't have a socialist paradise, or a dictatorship, with armed peasants. If he can't get anything from congress, Obummer will just write another executive order. It's comming, and this is a made to order 'crisis'.

Obummer likes "Executive Orders" and regulations.
Legislation is ok, if it goes his way. But, he has no issues with dictating a result via his own methods. I would expect to see the Consumer Product Safety Commission and the BATFE unleashed by Obummer against the manufacturers, distributors, dealers and maybe individuals. Bans against "Black" rifles and High Cap mags by regulation. Impose new fees and taxes on all of us as both a money raising and punitive measure and maybe go after ammunition. The NRA, individuals, etc. can appeal to the courts, Congress, etc., but once a lot of it is done, it will be difficult or maybe even impossible to un do. Good luck getting anything back that is turned in. Sound bleak ? This might even be a "rosey" prediction. |

A whole lot more people have died from lung cancer caused by cigarette smoking during his term in "office". Is he going to ban tobacco?
Why not? |

All I know is I gave my credit card a workout after watching the speech. Picked up any mags I still needed and some ammo. Thank god for the receiver group buys on this site too. Time to contact the congress critters.

Boston T. Party suggests Wyoming. Everyone buys a trailer and moves every election to vote in Liberty minded candidates. After 6 years enough State House and Senate guys are like minded enough to get the job done. Highly recommend his book Molone Labe. A great idea in the free state project and Wyoming is lightly populated to make it possible.

MDArms is kinda backordered - but oddly enough, the ProMag drums actually work. Which is the opposite of every other thing ProMag makes. I have a bunch of them for my Saiga. |

Evicting illegals wouldnt be a problem. Dispatching would-be smugglers and asylum-seekers could be our national sport, next to air guitar (of course)
Texas would be better because then we have ports and drydocks. A landlocked state 100% surrounded by the host nation we just succeeded from probably wouldnt bode well. Kinda like announcing you are leaving a house party, flick off everyone there, then closing ourselves in a closet. Texas has the game lands, agriculture, livestock, and ports to sustain. Too bad it'll never be anything more than a few disgruntled gun nuts talking on a thread...

I think the freestaters do it pretty well. I know there a lot in NH but some in wyoming, kansas and other states. I've lived in montana and it is a great state. And I just ordered an mdarms 20rd mag from the saiga 12 forum. They have 10 left. $120 but I doubt i'll regret it later. But it is probably a good thing this is my first credit card so I don't have a very high limit

Can we not agree to lead by example and refrain from using the term "assault" rifle as the ignorant media and unknowing do, unless we are actually referring to true assault rifles?
Thank you!

Just heard on the radio that Dick's Sporting Goods is pulling military style semiautomatics nationwide and that some investors are divesting themselves of Bushmaster parent company stock. Trying to distance themselves from Bushmaster....

Look at it this way, how much worse would it have been if he went in and tore the place up with an M1A? Or worse, with a non-converted Saiga 12 with a drum full of slugs? Neither of those weapons have the 'evil' pistil grip that anti-gun crazies flip out over... and both do A LOT more damage than a Bushmaster AR

I am sure the anti gun crowd will strike while the iron is hot.
I am looking for them to try some sort of registration. They need to try to figure out who has what before They can pass an all out ban on handguns and semi autos. |

I'd never really seen many if any semiautos at docks to begin with. And their prices are usually way too high around here.
