Tactical mods

I just inherited an M-1 garand.
Can anyone point me to a source for a picatinny rail and an M-4 stock adapter? It's all wood right now and I want to improve it.

I buy all my upgrades from makegreatgrandpasgungreater.com

Ask for Bubba in the custom shop there, he'll fix you right up

Cheap as they are, why not just buy you a AR and mod it till the cows come home. Sell your M1 Garand and you can fund at least 2 AR's.

You "bubbanize" the Garand and it will have little value....or use.

Also a chamber adapter for 300 blackout would be cool.

Because ar's are too "run of the mill" and I already have this one.

300BO is now old school.

Get one of the new 6.732 Super-Duper, Crudmore, Special, Magnum inserts. It's "da bomb" !

First of all, sorry for your loss. Secondly, Congrats on the acquisition. Thirdly, There is nothing, any modern day toys are going to do, to improve on the Garand.

When he drinks, he turns into "WesoManiac"!
Put away your pitchforks, his M1 is safe!

We were laughing about horrific gun mods when he came up with the idea last night, and I dared him to post it.

In all seriousness, I did kind of inherit a bayonet (friend's uncle). So the only logical thing to do was acquire a matching rifle. Since I didn't already own a Garand, I looked around and found a great shooting quality example to stack next to my FN-49.

You still have the option of chopping the barrel to 17.3 inches, installing an adjustable gas block and a bipod.

That would be something.

Where's your AR styled collapsible stock? TAPCO brand is preferred on so elegant of a project piece you have there. It should be green or dark earth.

Keep it simple, couple of wood screws and a piece of picatinny rail should get you fixed right up. Maybe a ring on the side for a single point sling?

IIRC, in the 80s, Springfield Armory offered a Folding Stocked "Tanker" Garand.
I prefer the M1C/D Garands (c'mon, look at my Screen Name), but I have to admit that the "Tanker" (with the standard Stock) is extremely sexy!

I sell kits for $49.95 shipped. Includes rail and mastication activated epoxy (ignore the "Double Bubble" packaging). LMK how many you need.

Just do a Shuff's Parkerizing Mini-G conversion and be done with it.

http://shuffsparkerizing.com/services/the-mini-g/

https://www.tactical-life.com/exclus...version-30-06/

"The complete Mini-G conversion is only $525, unlike other vendors, I don’t force you to purchase a new barrel which would increase costs $200. Return shipping is free East of the Mississippi, and $25 for those West. The Mini-G can also be had with a .308 barrel for an additional $200, or I can install one of my special .35 Whelen barrels for $400.
Complete Mini-G Conversion: $535
Refinish entire rifle $50
Add new .308 caliber barrel: $200
Add .35 Whelen conversion: $400
Use your barrel (instead of pre-cut barrel): $25
Ultimak Scout rail $195 (There is milling and fitting required to install this on a Mini-G)
Ultimak Scout rail install (this is only the install, NOT the rail) $90
Muzzle brake, Schuster $150
Drop down gas cylinder (BM59 type) with Drop down muzzle brake $175 Sold out but available at Standard Parts"
