Picked one up as part of a package deal and really have no love for it even though it is brand spankin new/unfired.
(I can pick up a HK 91 for the same or less)
I believe these to be somewhat valuable because of their California exemption status as not being an evil assault rifle and thus in demand there.
Can Californians "import" this from Texas, where I live, or once its out of state are they never to return ?

Confused on California law.

If still in California and had been registered it would be 100% legal to own but being outside of California if will have to be Californiafied by means of a mag lock device and have a 10 Round or less magazine the other option would be featuresless by having no pistol grip but allows you to use and existing hicap mags you have in california an assault weapon is defined so with a few modifications you wiol no longer have the defined assault weapon, I'm a California resident and had a 911 before the ban and sold it wish I would have kept it now there hard to find so I'm assembling the parts so I can have a clone built

One neat thing on this gun;
It has a flash hider that can be unscrewed and flipped end for end and re-screwed in creating a longer flash hider.
I have never seen this before on ANY weapon.
Perhaps I have lived a sheltered life

Maurice;
What in your opinion is a real and reasonable price ?
There is one in Calguns for sale since April asking $5000.
Someone at another forum stated he picked up one at $2300.

For a quick sale $2300 might go fast depending on the market but depending on what you paid for it $3000 mat work but could stay on the market longer which is why the $5000 rifle is still there, but at the price I can find a HK41. The main issue is there are people who will spend half the price for a HK clone and be just as happy

Not quite. Magazines shipped assembled and complete to California are limited to 10 rounds. 20 round magazines for the HK-91 are standard capacity. California law also bans magazines of standard capacity

You can ship high capacity magazines to California fully assembled. The FFL will need to give you a copy of his certificate/license or whatever they call it out there. I have a copy of one somewhere.... When I find it, I'll post a picture.

Can't find it. Did some searching but when I moved to TX I shredded a lot of old papers. It may be gone. Did some research and it's called a Large Capacity Magazine Permit.

Hi cap. Mags cannot be brought/ shipped into California for normal citizens unless here prior to the ban or as rebuild kits or hi cap made converted in to 10 rounds or less appearance can be the of any capacity but hot allowed to when fully loads contain more than 10 rounds. This excludes law enforcement and military.

Wouldn't the allowal of hi cap mags still being shipped into California defeat the purpose of the ban ?

That permit allows them to import for law enforcement and military ect. Not for everyday gun owners

You do realize that a 10 round magazine for the 1911 45 ACP is a "high cap mag" yet it is not banned in Cali.

The California ban also affects standard capacity magazines

Hmmmm, wouldn't it just be simpler to ban California and make them a separate country?

We are allow to own and purchase 10 round or less mags, so the 10 round mag for 1911 are perfectly legal, you can have mags over 10 rounds if they were owned and in California prior to the ban I have plenty of hi cap mags for the ar15, HK91, fal and a few others
