Here's a dessert item I haven't had before.
I don't usually like pears.

This stuff turned out to taste pretty darn good.
The beans weren't mushy. The texture of the meat was firm, but not spongy. I think the spices were just about right. Although, like a dumb-ass, I added some hot sauce from one of the little bitty bottles from a military MRE. I think it would have been OK that way if I hadn't put the whole bottle on the stuff. My mouth felt like it was on fire by the time I was done. Half a bottle would have been plenty. This dish was already spicy enough that none-a-bottle would have been a better decision. I should also mention that I added about 3 teaspoons of water before heating. I think all the MRE entrees are just a little too "thick" as-is.

I was going to wait a while for dessert. But, my mouth was stinging so much from the hot sauce, I figured I could either wash-out my mouth, or just eat something else.
Oatmeal cookie looks pretty good.

Break up the cookie, and pour on the pears.

I didn't expect to like the pears. But actually, they were pretty darn good with the cookie. The pears have a lot of liquid, so you need to eat this quickly, or the cookie will become mushy. It is the contrast in texture between the soft pears and the crunchy cookie that really make this combo fly. I got distracted about two-thirds of the way through this stuff, and when I came back to it, a lot of the cookie had gotten mushy. By then the texture was very unappealing.

I just called the wife and told her I was gonna make her eat the "vegetarian"meal for dinner tonight if she doesn't take me shopping. Whole Paycheck (....errr "Whole Foods") here we come. I hope I don't spoil my appetite for dinner in there. The staff looked at me kinda funny when I went to the customer service desk and asked for a re-fill on the toothpicks cup at the cheese display.
Ever notice the women shopping in that place? A lot of 'em look just a bit too big for they britches. Cold as a nickel in the snow they seem to me. Oh well, at least there's the cheese. Friday!!!

I was quoted $15.50 flat fee for one case. That isn't as bad as what I paid at Major Surplus and Survival when I bought a bunch.

I remember finding that invoice maybe 2 months ago and throwing it away. My credit card statments dont go back that far. When I purchased I ended up speaking with the owner, since I was purchasing 35 cases. He beat all the other venders by a wide margin. I think what saved me in shipping was the proximity of South Carolina to Virginia. One thing I do remember is, I based the life of the MRE I purchased at a 5 year shelf life, which equalled paying 15.00 to 16.00 dollars a month over that time span. Depending on the numberof MREs my BIL took, it might have been 41.00 to 42.00 a case shipped.
