Man, that's it for me! No more dropping acid and playing in the woods with my guns. Actually, using LSD as a chemical weapon against the enemy would be pretty effective. I just don't see how we can get them to lick blotter paper without becoming suspicious. "Here you go Achmed, try this sugar cube in your tea" just doesn't seem reasonable, but who know, if strapping on a suicide vest seems reasonable, maybe tea time with a couple of lumps would go over too.

LSD, in its various forms, is a powerful Hallucinogen. The idea that a group of servicemen with loaded 30 caliber rifles and active rocket launchers would be turned out into the woods "tripping," is at the very least "reckless endangerment", a crime in most U.S. states. Does anyone know if this is the real deal, and the factual details (ie. were the weapons actually armed, what sort and what dose of LSD was administered?).

At the very least, it would be a classic "short" on the total irresponsibility and incompetence of government, and the reckless and wanton indifference to life sometimes exhibited by certain chains of command.

I say we put it on the inside of the Dove bar wrappers the next time we conduct a subersive operation.

During these sorts of test the squad wouldn't have live ammo. They would however have to try and carry out their normal roles and like you saw in the video they were closely monitored.

LSD was considered at one stage as part of the arsenal for chemical warfare. If the enemy's water or food supply could be contaminated it could debilitate enemy units.

I wonder how long the queue of British squaddies was when the guys heard the Army was handing out free LSD LOL

Right, then, Sergeant Major, you take your squad, The Beatles, and meet up with the RAF forward observers, The Rolling Stones, and find out what they plan for strafing targets of opportunty along the front.

And make sure your chaps don't go wandering off and end up in the taven, like they did last week.

Sergeant Major, aren't you forgetting something?
Bloody Hell, all you need is love, you'll need your rifle and your bloody kit, then, won't you?
Dash it all, man, put your uniform back on, you've got your bollocks in the wind, try to maintain some level of discipline, for God's sake man, bloody stupid excercise...

That was exactly why the .gov was so interested in it back in the late 50's and early 60's

quote:
(1959) Major General William Creasy, chief officer of the Army Chemical Corps at the time, felt that psychoactive chemicals such as LSD would be the weapons of the future. He felt that, say, spiking a city's water supply with acid and taking over would be much more humane than firebombing it.

I imagine they were a bit distractable. Staring down any sort of cylinder whilst under the influence would REALLY mess with a guys concentration.

Hey man, I can see FOREVER...

I suspect that General Creasy was correct. I know which I'd choose, given the choice between acid and being firebombed.

I took an extension course from the Marine Corps Insitute on nuclear, bioloigical and chemical warefare. This was back in '88. I clearly remember a chemical halucinogenic agent that was supposed to give those symptoms shown in that clip for 2 WEEKS! I never saw it. I don't know if it was just propoganda. I do know that those courses where classified, and where not for open distribution. Would make for a battle that was way far from the norm!
