Ironwood Designs new run FAL wood sets starting 3-4 weeks

I sent this e-mail to all who had inquired about our US made FAL sets.
I am posting it here for anyone interested in confirming purchasing a set.

I do apologize to everyone for the very long wait regarding a new run of FAL sets. Some
inquiries date back a year +. We have been so tied up with other projects over the last year
or so, that there just wasn't time to fit in a FAL run. It does take at least 4-5 weeks to run 150+
FAL sets, so it was not easy finding a time slot. It looks like we found some time, starting in
about 3-4 weeks.

I had over 170 inquiries for FAL sets. Typically only 30% or so of inquiries that I receive, actually
purchase a set. What I want to do is to run a roll call for those of you that are sure you want to purchase
a set. I am doing this to gauge demand, and to determine production numbers.

As usual, I am not asking for deposits, I just confirmations regarding serious inquiries.

These are the sets that we are going to build.

Metric Sets:

STG butt stock Pad cut for the recoil pad that fits on the black, plastic STG 58 original butt stocks.
STG butt stock Plate cut for trapdoor metric military butt plate. We do not have or sell any Metric butt plates.
G1 butt stock Plate early G1 butt stock, no ferrule required, cut for butt plate.

Hand Guards Std. One style only, will not fit bipod. These are beefed up internally, and will not break like the
military versions. They are much thicker internally, and still clear the barrel and gas tube.
Pistol grip Std. Just like the original metric wood grips, with selector cut out.

Inch Pattern sets:

Inch butt stock Std. One pattern only, cut for Inch butt plate. I do have a small supply of original new condition plates.
Hand Guards Std. One style only. Based on original military pattern.
Pistol grip Std. One style only. Based on original military pattern.

We will make the sets from Black Walnut, our std. material. I am considering running some Inch sets using a lighter colored
hardwood such as Birch or Ash. This way you can stain the lighter colored wood to more closely match the original Inch color.
We may also run a few Maple sets for some variety. Let me know if this sounds good.

If you have your own blank that you want to have cut, you can do that. I will discount the price by $20- .
Requirements for cutting customer wood: I will not cut AAA fancy or exhibition grade blanks. Reason,
the hand guards twist after final CNC cutting. The grain in such blanks will bind and shift after inletting.
I will almost guaranty that they will do this. Grade A blanks with less burly figure will cut fine, most of the time.
If there is a defect in the blank discovered after cutting, or the final stock shrinks or warps, I will not be held
responsible. Any exotic blanks will be cut at customers risk. Of course if we cause the defect on a customers
blank, we will replace the materials and cut a new one.

Customer provided blanks for FAL sets must be paid for in full in advance. I will discuss these details in depth
with those of you interested in doing this.

Prices for the new FAL sets will be $175- shipping & handling extra. If you have a business address, not a home business, UPS fees
will be less than a residence. I will quote shipping based on actual UPS rates.

Here is my web site URL for reference:

Http://www.Ironwooddesigns.com go to the FAL page for pics, prices as listed above will be posted shortly.

Please initially list the type of set, and # of sets you are interested in.
Also, please attempt to keep any additional info requests as std. as possible, so that I may respond quickly to all of your questions.
I ask this only due to the large volume of e-mail this will create for me.

I want to thank all of my past customers for their support, and patience. We are going to do our best this time around to
keep FAL wood sets as regular stocking item. I am hoping to generate enough demand to afford to over build on this
on this run, hence getting more product in inventory. We have a lot of new items in the works, and time is scarce.
So if eveything works out, I can run quite a few FAL sets, and make the time for some new items, which you might be interested in.
I will post these on my site as they develope.

Thanks for your patience,
Matt

NewtoFALs,
Thanks for the response.

If you could, please shoot me an e-mail to confirm the parts you need.

Matt@Ironwooddesigns.com

I will put you on the confirmation list.

Regarding the grip question: Our Metric grips are pretty much set to the
factory FAL specs. Without re-engineering the entire part, I don't think
is do-able.

Anyway, look forward to your e-mail.

Thanks,
Matt

Any chance of just doing L1A1 butts or pistol grips for those of us with laminate guards?

So I guess that we have to buy a complete set (stock/handguards/pistol grip?). I would like to buy just the buttstocks seperately, if possible.

Also, I have some questions for the "STG butt stock plate cut for trapdoor metric military butt plate." I know a solid buttplate will fit on this, but I was wondering if it will have the internal cutouts that match up with the trapdoor buttplate, as I would rather have a solid stock if possible.

Thanks!

Matt, this is great news!

Folks, his work is very, very good. Well worth the cost. They are U.S. parts, and with an h/t/s set and a brake, there you are!

Max tried another question. "What sort of people live about here?"
"In THAT direction," the Jin said, waving its right paw round, "lives a Han: And in THAT direction," waving the other paw, "lives a Ming Hare. Visit either you like: they're both mad."
"But I don't want to go among mad people," Max remarked.
"Oh, you can't help that," said the Jin: "we're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad."
"How do you know I'm mad?" said Max.
"You must be," said the Jin, "or you wouldn't have come here."

Talking

I'll take one full METRIC set (BS,HG,PG) based on this:
STG butt stock Pad cut for the recoil pad that fits on the black, plastic STG 58 original butt stocks.

If you happen to run some of these in Maple, put me down for one. Otherwise I'll take the standard Walnut.

Thanks.

I'll take a metric set. High contrast and gaudy grain is more important than configuration

Thank you for all of the responses.

Yes you can purchase individual parts. Please refer to my web site
FAL page for updated prices. I just revised the page yesterday.

http://www.Ironwooddesigns.com

To all of you who have posted here, please send me an e-mail confirming
what set, parts, or wood type you desire. I am running a list so that I may
produce enough to meet demand, and then over produce a bit to maintain a
healthy inventory.

Here is my e-mail address.

Matt@Ironwooddesigns.com

You can go to the contact page on my web site as well.
Please take a minute to send me the e-mail, it will help me keep
track of what you want, as well as give me your contact info.

Thanks again,
Matt

You aren't going to make any Havy Barrel buttstocks? With 400 HB kits coming in I would think there would be a market.

I want one.

P51,
The heavy barrel butt stocks are basically, if not literally, the
G1 stock with the butt end set up for the folding butt plate.
I have put the two side by side, and the only difference is the
butt end configuration.

I would be willing to look at doing the programming to create
the heavy barrel version.

Please e-mail me so that I may have this request on record, and
put a name to it.

Thanks fof the interest.

cllary,

I think that Mosin Guy offered a refinishing service some time back. Does he sound familiar?

I'll let Mosin Guy speak for himself, but at last conversation, I don't believe he is taking on more work.

Matt from Ironwood here,
I am looking at contracting with a friend of mine to do some finish
work. He gave me a couple fo samples, and I am very pleased with
the results. I would offer the service myself, but it just takes way too
much time away from actual production.

I will post more info regarding this shortly.

I know I am being redundant, but please send me an e-mail if you
want to confirm a set. I want to make sure there are enough set to go
around.

I don't know if the previous post on this thread have sent e-mail, due to the fact that
e-mail addresses usually don't match FAL files member names.

So get on the list ASAP if you have not already.

Thanks,
Matt
