Got two kits from GunStuf/FAC a couple weeks ago.One was a G3 select kit which was very nice.No reciever yet,I havent decided and short on cash. The other kit was the Polish underfolder. It was beautiful. Not mint but what little surface rust there was was very minor and it looked like the rifle had basically sat somewhere. It was a matching #s set with both trunions and all the pieces for the under-folder set up.Came with a 30 rd mag,and pouch, with a cleaning kit and sling. All parts neatly dissassembled and in little bags.Rivets completely removed from trunions, and front trunion seperate from barrel. The only bad part of the kit was the bakalite pistol grip,it looked like hell, but I couldnt care less,it will be replaced. The sheet metal looked great,no dents. The bolt group, while not chromed looked like it hadnt fired 20 rounds, and the bore was beautiful with what looked like a brand new chamber. The FCG didnt look like it was anything but test fired, and all parts were virtualy free of grease with just a light coat of oil on them.
The reciever I chose was the one from Ohio Ordanance Works after reading the different posts and saw alot of good reviews on them.It came with no trunion holes drilled, hardened FCG pin holes and extractor.A great looking piece of work, and I had 3 to choose from(shop ordered extras) so I went down to Garys Guns with verniers in hand and ended up just grabbing one, they all measured same dimensions and showed equal quality work. I just finished the rough build last night. without the stock attatched yet and no finishing on metal parts yet.I heated the trunion up in the oven (after tapping the threads)and it slid on the barrel without a prob(it had about .002 press fit).Finished tapping the other holes and made a backing plate for the trigger guard to attatch to.Being a matching #s kit with low miles,a cartridge slid right in and bolt closed perfectly. The trunion holes I drilled with little probs and I thinned out the safety stop to tighten up the mag engagement a little.Just to test fire,I dropped in the needed FCG from the kit and took it out back to try it out. It shot 20rds without a snag, feeding perfectly,Music to my ears! Ive got a trigger set ordered from DPH off of the AK Files, next door and now I have to decide how I want to finnish it. A very nice kit and reciever Thanks a bunch to Harlon at FAC,The guys at Ohio Ordanance Works and Gary at Garys Guns in Muskegon Michigan
