I'm thinking this match will be perfect for the L1A1 to make its R&G debut.

Finally got the details worked out with JC Steel and they will be supplying us with about 26 pieces of AR500 steel for prizes! And not that little stuff, these are all 5" or larger.

Right now, we have almost as many prizes as shooters!

The gunning I can do. But my last helo ride pretty much took all of the running out for the remainder of my time here. It sounds like fun though.

I've lost track - are ROs running on Friday on their own, or mixed in with competitors on race day? Too many Run N Guns has me all confused...

Update.

JC Steel is also providing:
(2) 40% IPSC targets in AR500 with T-post mounts.
(2) $250 off purchases over $500 certificates

Just FYI, prize distribution will be top 3 finishers choose first, then random drawing from all shooters until we are out of prizes.

By my math now, even if the match is full, shooters will have a 16% chance of going home with a prize worth more than the registration fee.

Sounds fun but that's right when spring break starts for my kids and this wouldn't be their idea of family fun

Maybe next year if it's a different date.

Good luck to all !

Keeping this near the top. Only 2 weeks after Rock Castle and then this inaugural RNG match.

The match is actually full.

If you want to get on the wait list use the registration link...we will doubtless have cancellations.

From a removed perspective, this really is crazy. A match on Easter weekend, only two weeks after a very similar match not very far away in the grand scheme of things, and all 75 slots sell out two months before match day.

I'm not sure if this is a testament to Bruce's legendary Match Director skills or to the growing demand for Biathlons in general. Either way - good stuff!

Ha!

I don't think most of these folks know me from Adam, except the sewing group and RBGC folks maybe. We'll see.

I think it is clearly demand.

Nice prize tables probably help these things!

I think it is the competitors that are becoming shooting athletes. For those of us that have been involved in shooting events from a long time ago to present day, have seen not only an equipment race but also a quest for better fitness. It has finally dawned on the shooting world that physical health goes well with a person's ability to shoot well under stress.

But finding those venues that challenge the whole shooter (mind, body and ability) have been relegated to only a few places because of limited space. Look at what Stimpy does with a 150 by 100 yd range and a couple of minutes (hours for some of us) But as the information about RNG programs spreads, I believe you will see them occurring more frequently. And more sooner than later, a governing body set up to establish a fixed set of rules, classifications, etc. This sport is just going to grow, IMHO

I did not mean to brush aside Stimpy's contributions. He works very hard for a long time before each match to make it work, run and function perfectly. He also takes the time to select the few he can count on to assist him, whether with mundane or critical tasks. And let's face it, Jill supporting him, nagging him to get on the ball, or pointing out that what he wants to do just won't work really makes his matches shine. Then she turns into a gracious host, accepting a few dozen strangers into her home and make them feel like family.

Oh, since you brought up hosts...there is no official after-match party for the RnG. I can't throw a 75 person party. I am afraid Saturday daytime is all the fun the shooters will get out of me this time.

Just a bump for reminders. A month and a half away before the fun starts again.

Just remember, I'll be there at DA CHOPPA

Bruce do you have a rough itinerary yet? I'm making some travel arrangements. Safe to say it's okay for RO's to be ready to go Friday AM and plan on being finished Saturday night?

ROs will shoot on Friday and RO on Saturday.

So yes, You will be done sometime Saturday afternoon/evening.

I wish I could give a more detailed time, but I have no idea how many of our registered shooters will show up.

We have 19 staff and 43 paid as of now.

Any idea of round count, and also rough idea of MOA of targs for long range (particularly 500-600yds?) I plan on running something iron, but I don't know that I will have time to take a FAL past 200 yds for data before then. Garand though I know up to 5 hundo at least.

Stolen (and modified) from page 1:

Stage 1 (pistol/rifle) will be a miniature recreation of the infamous 'Blackhawk down' stage we ran at a FAL match years ago. Shooter will stage rifle and pistol in indicated locations within the 'chopper' prior to starting. On the go signal, shooter will draw and load pistol and knock down 8 steel plates at ranges from 12-15 yards. Once all of the pistol steel is knocked down, shooter will place pistol in safety bucket and retrieve and load rifle and shoot 16 steel swingers. There is a 3 minute time limit for this stage.

Stage 2 (rifle) will be fired from the beautific 600 yard firing line on RBGCs amazing Highpower range. Shooter will start the stage standing. On signal shooter will load rifle and shoot a 66% IPSC plate at 100 yards (3) times standing. Shooter will then go prone and shoot an IPSC torso target at 275 yards (3) times. Shooter will then hit a IPSC torso target at 600 yards (1) time. There is a 3 minute time limit for this stage.

Stage 3 (pistol) "Charge!" On signal shooter will draw and load pistol and move forward engaging 6 IPSC targets as they become visible. Any targets without (2) A zone hits will result in a 20 second shoot time penalty. UPDATE! THIS STAGE WILL LIKELY BE MUDDY.

Stage 4 (pistol) "Going in blind" Shooter will arrive on stage and will NOT attempt to look past barricades/props. On signal shooter will load pistol, kick in the 'door' and engage 4 targets with 2 hits required per target. Targets may be 'overshot'. No-shoots may be shot as much as you like at 30 seconds per no-shoot. Any targets without (2) A zone hits will result in a 20 second shoot time penalty.

Stage 5 (rifle) "Body armor" Rifle only stage. On signal, shooter will load rifle and engage (5) IPSC targets from both sides of the barricade. Targets may be 'overshot'. No-shoots may be shot as much as you like at 30 seconds per no-shoot. Any targets without (2) A zone hits OR (1) headshot (A or B) will result in a 20 second shoot time penalty.

All total I get 28-33 rifle shots minimum.

and

28 pistol shots minimum.

How many times have you told me blind stages were not a good idea? She is a sweet siren it seems neither one of us can resist.

Durrrrr I saw practiscore right after I made that post. Sorry, not used to people like you and Matt actually filling out stage briefs there. There are no matches in NC that people actually do that for. Lucky to get a round count the night before

Enough about Rockcastle - it's time to think about Georgia! I'm thinking I'll carry 1 25rd and 2 20rd rifle mags (.308), and 4 13rd pistol mags (.45ACP).

With the Jeep breakdown there's no way I can gt the FAL ready in time, so it's going to have to be the AR10. Feel free to properly shame me.

What's everybody else carrying?

Same as your match...heck it is all still dirty.

I am switching back to the Hokas with all this pavement.

I will be sending RO emails from my email and shooter updates from practiscore some time this week.
