WTB: SA/Rhodie Kit or lower

I'm looking for an SA/Rhodie kit or lower if anyone has one floating around they'd be willing to part with. Thanks in advance.

In the absence of a kit, do you want a complete lower or a stripped one?

Can somebody explain the difference in the lowers on the 2 kits?

And if we're queuing here then I'm interested in first kit.

South Africa ordered a number of FAL's from FN in two primary contracts in the early 60's. Their first FAL order was for standard, plain, lugged barrel, wood stocked, plastic handguard M2's. Their second order was for the same gun with the addition of a flash hider and no lug on the barrel. Then, they licensed with FN to make the FAL domestically. The first kit pictured is a South African made, licensed copy of the Belgian M2 with the addition of a flash hider. Basically a copy of the rifles received in their second order. Later, the South Africans began to change with the times and plastic stocks were introduced. That is what is on the second kit. The lowers are essentially the same and the parts interchange. One is just older than the other.

Thanks for lesson. Interesting to see examples of this side by side.
Probably expains why the first one looks a lot like my G1 lower.

Looking forward to Sunday morning post. Suspect I'm not the only one.
Now if I can just figure out the falfiles feature that sends me a text alert when somebody posts ...

Why buy just the kit?

I purchased a fully built rhodie riFAL a year or so back. Great looking kit on matching #'s Coonan R1 receiver .

She runs like a CHAMP.

If you are really interested in owing a nice R1, PM me.

I really liked that rifle, but I had no idea it originally had so much paint! Is the original paint still under your repaint or did you remove it first?
