Veterans Day Salute JRA M14

Set up my JRA M14 for my dad (‘67-‘68) for Veterans Day. Thanks for your service, to all who have served.

Looks good except that those ventilated handguards were taken out of service before 67-68.
And, you need one of Hawk's kits to fill the hole in the stock.

Wasn’t supposed to be a ‘67-‘68 riffle and in country he had a M16. He trained with an M14 at Ft. Lewis, WA. I’ll look into getting a Hawks kit.

Nice rifle and tribute. Like that upper hand guard, different than what one sees today. Cheers!

Nice rifle and pics. Nothing says "rifleman" to me like an M14.
I like the hand guard, seems more functional.

I think the vented handguards make them look so much more gooder !

Boot camp in late 67 - early 68, several rifles had the ventilated uppers. Also in ITR several rifles had them. Things can stay in service long after they were officially taken out of service.

Are those James River M1A's pretty decent? I've been looking for a upgrade from my late model Springfield Armory's

Over half of my M14 type rifles are Bula/JRA or Bula's which I have nailed together myself. Great material to work with.
The complete JRA builds that I have seen are extraordinary.
