Oh wow, PatC, just wow!

I am so impressed, if you want to do a FAL (casting) and a 1911 (billet) and a Garand (casting) I'll send you the blanks. Just send me a USPS Priority mail MFRB label as a PDF. Also have some .22 frame (casting).

All I want in return is to see the pics on completion.

Pat can you post a link to the M14 forum where you document your process.

59 Rc is pretty hard, that's knife hard, is that what you were shooting for?

Yes, Its carburized The spec is D61 - D71. With case .012 - .018 deep I was shooting for upper hardness specs D69-D71 and upper case depth specs.
Checked three original samples all were at upper case .

The thread is mostly trash as it was mostly Photobucket pictures.As soon as I replace photos I will.

Thanks Gunplumber but this will probably be the last,this was third receiver I did .

Yes case hardening. I know whar you mean. I was a manual machinist for 25 years. Your work looks good.

Finally parkerized the receiver and built the rifle .all USGI parts lot of WRA .Test fired a mag of Federal XM80 today and everthing worked perfectly.Did'nt bother paper as it was raining . Detail inspected everthing after tear down and clean .I'm pretty satisfied.
