Barrel for Bula Build

Looking to do a GI like 22" build on a Bula receiver. I was originally thinking chrome lined Criterion but I don't want to run into any hassle with swapping bolts/barrels if it doesn't headspace. I'd likely be using a USGI bolt from my stash but could go with a Bula bolt as well.

I was also looking at the Wolfe Match standard weight nitrided barrel. I know nothing about nitride. Is it on par with chrome for durability/rust resistance?

Looking for any/all input. Thanks.

I have put a bunch of them together using Bula receivers.

I think you will find they will accept USGI or Criterion barrels very nicely.
One of mine has a USGI Winchester bolt and Winchester barrel and headspace came right in at 1.633.
I have also used a number of Bula GI profile barrels and reamed to proper headspace. This is my choice personally. One on top is All Winchester and the rest are Bula receivers with Bula bolts and barrels.

These were all finished up in early October using Bula receivers with USGI heels welded on by James River Armory.

The current production donor receivers are snipped off aft of the rear sight pocket so they are basically the same as the un-snipped version.
Functional parts of the receiver are not messed with now. The earlier version Winchester from a couple of years ago in my collection was cut farther forward and the welds were a little rougher than now.
I have polished the welds on some in the area where the bolt slides under the heel, but nothing that would effect function, just esthetics.
All in all, they are super receivers to build on and James River and Bula both will stand behind their products.
I enjoy the feeling of bringing these USGI heels back to life.

I did a build with an early James River Rock Ola/Bula barreled receiver with one of the first run of Bula 22 barrels. The build went together very smoothly and the rifle shoots great!

This is pretty representative of the current welding job.
