Im orginally from Kommiefornia and am curious about these confiscations as well, how did they occur? Are any of these cases where LE showed up at your door from reviewing dealer records from Cali or out of state dealers? Or are they cases of being caught at the range with "suspiscous" weapons?

All the years I lived there I never received any letters about registering guns I bought prior to kali bans so im very intersted to know if they currently actively search out people who ignored the original AW bans etc.

Well........,Ca DOJ just returned my RA M96 Recon, which they had seized and told me was an unregistered assault weapon. They were all smiles when they returned it,they said it was legal"gray area" but they "will not be issuing letters"concerning the legality.I am awaiting the letters of correspondence between DOJ supervisors and Attorney Chuck Michele clarifying the language in the law. When the DOJ Special Agents seized my rifle I asked them about the FAL.They told me a standard FAL was illegal because of the ability to accept a grip but I believe they were mistaken there also.IMHO,If you do possess an unmodified FAL I would never possess a grip, attached or not.He told me fixed mag FAL was okay.FWIW.Regards,Phil

Just out of curiosity... how did they sieze your rifle? Does someone turn you in from seeing it at the range, or from a gunsmith, or do they just swat team into your home at night and demand to see your guns?

I live in a 'free' state (Iowa) so how things work out in DPRK baffle/scare me.

the man asked you about the circumstances of your seizure. Why not just answer his question?

By the way Motoman where abouts are you ? I'm up 20 min north of Modesto. Stockton Gun and Modesto Gun are good people if you need a gun shop to go to. Mike does an excellent job at putting FALS together.

I was by Stockton Gun today and Mike had a FAL (cal legal) on the shelf.

bullet button

Rifletailor.com sells a bullet button for the FAL. That should fix the "fixed" mag issue. But then trying to find 10 round mags is a whole different story. Not sure if this helps

I live in Kalifornia and I had a imbel parts kit from Entreprise arms build on a coonan receiver with a bullet button from rifle tailor. Completely legal

The FN .308 RIFLE is legal in Calif.

AKA FN 50.63.

Just add a 10 round mag and a setscrew on the mag release lever ohh and swap out the flash hider / gernade launcher for one of a smaller OD and or without the gas sealing ring that sits on the od groove.

ETA: Ill provide legal evidence to backup this fact if asked.

In time Minder.

Ill get some pics of my 50.63 this evening but dont have the time to spare right now.

Beyond that I dont happen to agree with their case law about OAL..

From my POV overall would mean with stock extended.

The only other issue is the state calls the factory flash hider a DD basically, Or at the least they call it a gernade launching device.

Hows your arm healing ?

The CA DOJ has no idea what constitutes a grenade launcher. As long as no jerk-off writes them a letter to ask "hey is this a grenade launcher?" . . . . they will continue to have no idea. I don't even worry about it any more.

1. If the gun is marked "Fabrique Nationale" with a model of "FAL", "LAR", "FNC", "308 Match" or "Sporter" it's banned by name.
DO NOT BRING IT INTO CA. No modifications will make this rifle CA legal.

2. The Springfield Armory FAL clone known as an "SAR-48" is also banned by name, regardless of features and/or Bullet Button.

3. If the receiver is not marked as one of the above guns - for example, DSA, Imbel, etc. then it is not banned by name. It can
then be rendered CA legal before entering California!!! by adding a BulletButton-style maglock device and using a 10rd mag.

Correct as the post I linked to states such.

Are you forgetting there is the FN .308 Marked rifle that is legal to import.

That is if its shipped with the upper and lower in seperate packages and or if its shipped with the mag release lever drilled and tapped with a 8/32 setscrew.

Yes its as easy as that.

Im also working on another option so one is not limited to 10 round magazines.

More info to follow as this develops.

If anyone needs a FAL bullet button/ magazine lock let me know. I had a bit of a production overrun, and would be happy to help other California FAL owners.

I had one pre ban DSA FAL and registered it as per law along with my AR. Bought a 2nd in Reno while having a second residence in Nevada (seasonal resident), about 5 years ago but never brought it across the state line. I no longer have any California worries with firearms as I have wisely left the state for freedom elsewhere.

Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and to remove all doubt.
