Street Sweeper Question
Been looking for parts for a conversion to a SBR on a Ladies Home Companion. I saw this and was wondering if this is legit? Says the barrel has been removed and destroyed to make it a non-dd. I always assumed it was the receiver that had to be destroyed to make the Street Sweeper just a parts kit.

Stay Away
I would avoid it like the plague. It is one of those "grey areas" where the BATF like to operate and can cost you dearly if they decide to interpret the law one way or the other. Who knows the seller just be a BATF agent?

If it doesn't have a barrel, and if you don't already have one in your possession, it's just like an M-79 or M-203 receiver, a legal title one weapon. The process would be- purchase the weapon (less barrel), transfer occurring through an FFL, file the NFA paperwork and pay the $200 making tax. Once you have the tax stamp in hand, purchase the barrel, and manufacture (assemble) your new DD. How would this differ from the way most Short Barreled Rifles (SBR) and Short Barreled Shotguns (SBS) are currently made?

"ATF has determined that where the facts and circumstances warrant, certain NFA firearms may be removed from the purview of the NFA by removing the specific feature or features that cause the weapon to be classified as an NFA firearm. In the case of the Streetsweeper and Striker-12 type shotguns, both the barrel and the cylinder must be removed. On the USAS-12, only the barrel need be removed."

Did read one on converting the 12ga Streetsweeper to something less than a .50 bore as well to negate the destructive device crap.

I have the .45-70 Government version called the Ladies Home Companion. They also made a .45 LC/ .410 version. It is essentially the street sweeper modified as a pistol in this caliber.
Looks like this: Found more info on this question here: http://www.titleii.com/bardwell/atf_letter33.txt

Is there a long gun version of it or pistol only?

This is closer to what I have:
![]() I'm hoping to have it as a registered SBR if I can find a rear housing assembly with a folder. Unfortunately, no carbine exists. It was only produced as a pistol....So If I can find the parts, I'll see how it runs as a registered SBR: Here is it firing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=maOrB1oCaiI
