Would this be a good deal guys?
I have an acquaintance who has offered me a chance to buy some FAL food that he describes as such:
7.62X51 NATO M80 Ball equivilant ammuntition from Portugal in 200 rd Battle Packs I can get 200 rounds for $130. .65/round. What say the FAL guys? I figure it is a good price, but never shot any Portuguese ammo. Still new to the FAL. Thank you for any input. I've searched, and seems like nothing wrong at all with Port ammo. Just wanted to see if you guys thought the price was fair. In today's market, I think it is.

Some Port ammo had corrosion on the cases.
Assuming it doesn't that's a decent price for ammo now! Buy what ya can afford

He describes it as "bright and shiny" so I think I will pick up 200. Thanks!

In my experience, even the Port with minor surface corrosion is good shooting ammo. I pull a couple of hundred rounds out on a rainy day and have at the surface corrosion with some brass wool. The vast majority clean up nicely and it's good therapy, especially when taken with

Jump on it.
There was a batch of port that got infested by termites [from the pallet, I believe} Look for little holes in the Bps . the holes allowed moisture in and the paper had a high acid content. this is what led to the corrossion. I got some a few yrs ago from SAMCO. Just bought another case KNOWING that there was tarnish [they tumbled it ,to clean it up some] 5 or 6 that I won't shoot. I picked it up for practice ammo and don't plan on reloading berdan. IF its bright and shinny as described, its real good ammo, at a fair price in today's market. If your friend has way more than you want ,drop me a PM and I'll come get the rest. Happy Faling OHC

picked up 3 of the battle packs. Seller gave me 15 rounds in a zip lock bag that he had from a battle pack he says he bought at the same time he bought the ones he sold me. So I got 600 rounds for $390. Have not got to shoot any yet, but the rounds he gave me look good.
