Gunshow price insanity

I happened to stop by the Leesport, Pa. show, and left shaking my head. Prices on all military style semi automatic rifles were doubled. Century AKs marked "last chance" for $1000., FN SCAR17, $5200, Colt AR lowers $999.00, stripped DPMS lower $400,cheapest AR15 magazines were $35, aluminum mags were $50. Few folks buying handguns, nobody buying semi auto rifles, mags, or much .223/5.56 ammo, which was ridiculously priced. Saw some 7.62 marked $1.50/round. People were telling others, much to the dealers' dismay, to wait a few weeks till the frenzy passes over, and manufacturers begin starting up after their holiday shutdowns. I actually heard a salesguy at Cabelas tell people that Obama personally ordered all gun manufacturers to shut down, and another trying to push overpriced 9mm ammo, telling folks it would be selling for $40/box in two to three weeks.

Now that is gouging, trying to coerce people to buy using false information. If I had heard that coming from a Cabelas salesman I would be damn tempted to give their office a call.

Century AKs marked "last chance" for $1000.

I noticed that Illinois and New Yawk are including "thumbhole stocks" in their latest ban wish lists.

WTS:

Pre-ban Century Thumbhole stock. Fits inch lowers with minor butchering/modification. These are getting hard to find. $600 OBO; shipping extra.
as always, first "I'll take it" gets it. thanks for looking

Saw the same as the OP in San Antonio today. Pmags for $50, aluminum 30-rd for $35. PPU M193 1K for $1K. 6920s for $2800, SCARs for $4900. I snagged some nice Stg58 mags w/witness holes for $20/ea, metric charger guide included. The new L1A1 mags I bought for $20/ea last show are now magically $40/ea. Demand, you know...

Went to market hall in dallas today. Of course I wasn't there to buy anything, just check out the insanity. Best craziness I saw was a $2000+ wasr with a bumpski stock and drum. I did not see ONE rifle sell at insane prices. Lots of guys walking around with aks and ars for sale though. Saw a couple polytech legends that were closer to reasonable than the $2500 olympic arms ar-15s. Lots of guys were asking $45-50 for a pmag even more for the 3rd generation windowed ones. Model 1 sales had the best deal at $30 a pmag. Lots of .223 for a $1 a round. Actually saw some cases of 7.62x39 wolf for sale for $350 which is only about $50 higher than it was selling for weeks ago. I haven't bought anything at a gunshow in years besides the occasional tshirt or hat. Saw saiga-12s for $1700, and people thought the $600 I paid was too much lol. I even saw asshats selling normal unconverted saiga rifles for $1300! Lots of mak-90s with thumbholes, saw one marked $1450. Saw a dsa receiver with stg-58 kit on it priced at $1500 I believe.

Handguns were the only thing worth buying, well that and med kits and such. Model1sales had tons of ar stuff for sale. Their prices have gone up some but nothing compared to other vendors.

Glad I didn't go. I'm not made to deal with that kind of insanity or, well, I'll just leave it at that.

Also supposedly scar mags were priced at $250 (I think, it might have been $200) and scars at $6k I didn't see this but another local member did. I didn't walk the entire show but most of it. Did see a guy walking around with a minty belgian falo with $3500 on his sign. I figure that is fair.

Birch Run, MI today and prices were all over the place. P-mags from $10 to $50, GI mags from $15 to $35 for 20 rounders, and Glock mags from $25 to $50. The worst case was a Mak 90 for $1500! There were a few DSA FALs in the $2500 range. One rack with 7-8 M-1 carbines from $1200 to $2500. It was very obvious that new price tags were on most guns.

223, 308, ammo was about $1 a round. Most pistol ammo not too much higher than it was a few weeks ago. And that's about all I bought, a few boxes of 380 ammo.

I refuse to feed the frenzy, and will enjoy sitting on the sidelines watching all of the craziness. Unless of course someone wants to pay me $1500 for my Mak 90.

I didn't go to the Orlando, FL, show this weekend, but a buddy did, and he told me the following:

$150 Pmags, new in the wrap
$1000 for 1000 rounds of 5.56 factory ammo
Glock mags at $75-$1000
AR's at $2k minimum, quality going much higher.

Wonder what will happen when a bill is actually close to passing?

I had to work, but would not attempt to brave the frenzy regardless.

A Daewoo went for 1700.00 at Leesport this weekend. Seller had no problem finding a buyer.
