The Constitution
It's just not fashionable anymore
![]() http://www.nytimes.com/2012/12/31/op...4&ref=opinion& I know it's been hacked away without consequence for centuries, but this seems over the top even for the NYT. |

Wow!!!! I couldn't stand to read the whole thing. Makes me wish we could split the country into two groups. Those who believe in the rule of law and want to follow the constitution and guys like this one. Split the sheets and let the two new nations proceed to their natural destinies.
It just doesn't work geographically, but something like that is likely to happen someday.

As a professor of Constitutional Law, he knows that the COTUS can be amended as We the People see fit. So if he doesn't like a provision, let him attempt to change it, by rule of law. He may not agree with what James Madison thought 225 years ago but I fkn do. Since he knows he will fail to have his vision lawfully passed, he proposes the COTUS be ignored, He is treasonous, intellectually dishonest pig.

The Constitution is the incorporation document for the fedgov. They get their existence and authorities altogether from it. When it is voided, their legal existence and authority goes with it.
I'd almost consider that a fair deal these days. |

The Constitution is a living document, revised as needed by the people who have the biggest and most guns and who are willing to use them without restriction or remorse. Stand in the way of the Washington overlords and see how much the Constitution will protect you.

I would argue an impartial and studied observer would say that event horizon has come and gone. Quite some time ago.

The Constitution worked as well, if not better than any other form of goverment on the globe.
It is still a young and evolving document--SCOTUS keeps coming back to original intent. We have the longest form of continuous governent on the planet. It keeps Obama in check a lot and without it we would be screwed. Men are not perfect as we see....... but the constitution more or less kept things well organized; until FDR, Clinton and Obama. FDR, Clinton and Obama brought you real gun control efforts--for world communism and to help get rid of the Constitution. You guys are actually FDR/Clinton Obama supporters as you are all in bed together about getting rid of the rule of law. Those who say we do not need the constution, and we need a government like China or Russia or Angola or Yemen, will get goverment like those and nothing less .......and definitely nothing based upon any laws or justice, because they are basically libertarian, anarchists. Kind of like "old OWS", but they do not hate the corporations that make stuff they like. They are no more kings, who can define their own fate without a Constitution, than did any quasi independent western rancher, without a personal army. Those who have issues with taxation, and foreign relations/actual world history must think that there are no bad guys out there and that they can live quite well without any Constitution are batty. Lotsa indians all around us kept in check by the constabulary in conjunction with the best form of government ever devised. Last edited by V guy; January 07, 2013 at 12:42. |

I think hes more correct than you guys give him credit. We have dug ourselves into such a hole now there is little hope. We have been coasting off the blood of American revolutionaries for 200 years. If we never stand up, we deserve what we get.
Take a little ownership for your life, do it yourself, and don't keep asking Jefferson to bail you out from the grave.

He acknowledges that he cannot secure enough votes to amend the Constitution, and therefore suggests that we "soften" our position. He seeks to undermine popular opinion and bypass the high hurdle that was specified. Tough shit for him. He should go back to teaching his students in large numbers so lawyers can continue to proliferate and find new ways to insert their tentacles into everyday life and generally gum up the works. All at very high pay rates. |
