Trijicon Accupoint 1-4x24

Does anybody have any experience with these ?

Just got a SCAR17 and I'm debating optics. For the unit power CQB side I'm debating my EOTech versus a Leupold prismatic. For versatility, I like the MilletDMS I have on a FAL, but the Accupoint seems to be higher quality ?

Also thought about the Leupold Mk4 1.5-4x20. Inquiring minds want to know

I have never handled the scope you are looking at but I did buy one of these:

http://www.trijicon.com/na_en/produc...p?pid=TA31ECOS

about a year ago. What I found is that the scopes can be purchased from gun/parts distributors for hundreds of dollars less than on the internet. I believe mine came from Bill Hicks. At that time, the scope I purchased was $1700+ online and I was able to get it for $1350 or so. Of course that was pre-hysteria.

Yeah, I've got a great FFL/dealer who takes care of me pretty well, so my experience coincides with yours - good to have it confirmed , though !

Merry Christmas atcha, Brian

I would try to look through both first. The Trijicon is different and not for everyone. Leupold is a top performer as well. I would try to find a local retailer that has both, hold them up and see which one fits you the best.
Just my .02

I have an old 56mm Trijicon & am impressed with the tritium & have a 5mm Leopold & equally with it's quality. I like the tritium & fiber optics, but that Leupold glass is something too.....may have to sleep on it. Optic Planet has them both on sale at the moment which does not help either

The Accupoint is definitely higher class than the Millet. In the price range of the Accupoint there is a lot of nice glass. On a SCAR (if the rifle is any indication of your intended purpose for the scope ) look for 1x4's, 1x6's and pay special attention to field of view. Also look hard for true ( not actually possible ) 1 x if targeting speed is important to you. True daytime visibility for lighted reticles is not common. A lot of manufacturers and owners claim highly visible reticles and may even say they are daytime visible when in fact they are not.

All things being equal the best Euro scopes will have greater FOV than the Pacific Rim scopes do. Check out Meopta, Elcan, and the like. SWAFA would be a giod place to shop too. Look at opticsthoughts.com. Seems to be a lot of good information and no advertising bias. Hope you find what you are looking for and no buyers remorse with whatever you chose. Good luck.

Got the AimpointTR24R, mounted it on the SCAR with an ADM Scout-S mount. Haven't fired it yet ( probably won't get to for awhile ) but I like the set up a lot.
Comparing it to the Millet DMS on my FAL, the accupoint is definitely the better glass. Better FOV, clearer , doesn't use batteries are all pluses. I'm not sure it is nearly three times better based on price, which is to say if I couldn't afford the Aimpoint, I think the Millet would be a viable, cost-effective alternative.
I kinda prefer the DMS reticle, being used to it, the TRG still seems a little strange because I haven't any range time with it yet.
I agree with SiJones on power. Unless the use is strictly paper punching , I don't think MBRs are well served by large and/or powerful optics. I actually like my EoTech a lot, but it seems to me that the ability to crank in a little power makes the rifle a little more useful, particularly for those of us with "age modified" vision
Question now iswhether to use a Timney or Geissele trigger. The Timney is modular, which is convenient, and Midway shows backoredred to end of Jan, as opposed to the Geissele which is BO'ed until late Aug !!! Guess I'll be getting the Timney .

Are those SHOCK proof? I have a trijicon 3x9x40 on my M1A and I love it. I was looking for a new scope for my 50bmg and was looking at the trij 5 x 20, but didn't know if it was rated for it. can't afford nightforce at the moment.
