I'll be there, barring civil war.
I will also be using a DIFFERENT fal this yr. No more "blank jams" for this gal.
I figure I have a couple of more yrs in my legs to get a bit closer to the top of the list, and REDEAM myself.

Won't be able to help at the range this year because I will be getting off to a late start to Dawsonville (working mid-shift on Thursday night). Naw, see above. The job on the other hand is getting to be a... (fill in your expletive). We have a new schedule in place to reduce crime. We now have to work 11-15 weekends in a row. So, in order to enjoy a weekend off, we have to put in for leave.

But it is funny that for the last two years they have been telling us that by working our original schedule we have reduced our crime stats by almost 50%. I guess "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" doesn't apply.

Great. But that would makes Stimpy's day harder. I think he looks forward to shlomo and I shooting so he can take a break and walk around instead of having to run after the shooter.

But, on the other hand, it would make timing the event simpler since he could use his electronic timer instead of an hour glass.

I look back with great pride that one of the participants commented on my run (back in '08, give or take a year) by saying he didn't think a guy that big could run that fast. I have not heard that very often in my life.

Are the good times really over for good?

Yessir, I sometimes can be spurred on to move rather quickly. Like the time early last year when a drugged up thug was popping 357 caps at me and a couple of LEO's. I passed one of my young studs while we were trying to take him down before he actually shot somebody. Felt good when my young speed demon said he couldn't believe I could move that fast. Especially since that was before the knee got worked on. But I can san say it took several days and about a half bottle of naproxen before I could move freely again.

And for the Monday morning quarterbacks, the background had children and we couldn't take the shot.

I have a question for all my shooters.

Would you prefer to...

1. have the same match fee as in years past $20 and possibly shoot a few more steel plates.

or

2. have the match fee stay $20 and have some better prizes and trophies

or

3. drop the match fee and do things more or less like we have been doing them.

The reason I ask is that the board has finally dropped the 40% take requirement for matches. This means I can charge what I want and the club merely takes what is LEFT after expenses, rather than 40% off the top and then whatever is left after expenses. This would potentially allow me to buy additional AR500 targets every year on the match budget.

I realize ammunition is not cheap, and this match eats it like candy, so rather than just assume everyone would want more targets, I thought I would poll the audience. It's ya'lls match as much as it is mine.

While I like to shoot a lot, the one day match format puts a limit on the number of shooters versus the number of targets formula.

I don't mind "donating" a $20 match fee for a fun match. If the funds are made available to you for "upkeep" then buying new steel to replace the old steel and other props, I say use it.

I don't like the idea of using the match money to purchase prizes to be handed out to the winners. However, prizes purchased to be handed out from a random drawing (similar to door prizes) so everyone has the same chance of winning could be a good thing.

And last but not least, I would like to keep the match fee in place because I feel that it keeps the troublemakers out of the match. But, I have no problem for the match director to waive payment of fees for shooters on a case by case basis. And no need for this decision to be made public.

I like some of each - but I'm with the Shlom: more prone & cover than standing pretending that I'd be bulletproof. I may not have been around for it, but have some of the 'movement' pieces had run-n-gun (shooting while moving) in them in the past? We did one "Soldier of Fortune" run and gun event at the Oregon shoot once, and it was very well received.

You might want change that "Entry Fee" part - it still says $10/member, $15/non-member. It says $20 down below though (correctly?).

Is the 150-200rd number an estimate of how many shots it will take, or how many targets there will be? I just finished the big pistol match/classifier I've been putting all my energy into lately - now it's time to start FAL match practice!

I fixed the form.

Yes, the ammo count is still a good estimate.

It is looking more and more like we may be using the same steel we have before. I am still testing various reactive target designs, the best ones are production intensive.

I don't mind "donating" a $20 match fee for a fun match. If the funds are made available to you for "upkeep" then buying new steel to replace the old steel and other props, I say use it. I don't like the idea of using the match money to purchase prizes to be handed out to the winners. However, prizes purchased to be handed out from a random drawing (similar to door prizes) so everyone has the same chance of winning could be a good thing. And last but not least, I would like to keep the match fee in place because I feel that it keeps the troublemakers out of the match. But, I have no problem for the match director to waive payment of fees for shooters on a case by case basis. A $20 match fee is more than reasonable for what we already do. It says $20 down below though (correctly?). Is the 150-200rd number an estimate of how many shots it will take, or how many targets there will be? I am planning to drive down the night before and leave after the match. __________________ You cannot post 'Thou Shalt Not Steal,' 'Thou Shalt Not Commit Adultery,' and 'Thou Shall Not Lie' in a building full of lawyers, judges and politicians. It creates a hostile work environment.
