CRKT Hammond Cruiser (a review)
A remarkable folder! I have had one for nearly two years, and it put all my other folders into retirement. It may look odd, but the design is excellent on so many points. The grip is wasp textured zytel, and the ergonmics lock it into the hand in various grips. The lawks safety(prevents the linerlock from being disengaged) is manally engaged, and easily accessible with the thumb. My "Desert Cruiser Operation Iraqi Freedom Certified"model came with two pocket clips for left or right side, and can be attatched at either end of the grip for unlimited adjustment to user preference. The blade is either AUS6 or AUS8(I don't recall) which is an excellent stainless steel, with great edge retention and moderate rust resistance. This is a large folder, and bulky in the pocket, but it is so well suited for various tasks, and so durable and sturdy for fixed knife applications. You can pick these up on ebay for under $25, and it is a bargain for the brilliant design and performance. I have handled many tactical folders, and this is notably the best, especially considering the price. Recently I thought "it would be nice to have a more compact version" and happened to find a "Hammond Cruiser Special Ops" edition. This is the same design, but smaller with slab grips, slightly different blade profile, and AUS 4 steel. This carries better in the pocket and shares the same features, but I am still partial the the full size model for it's all purpose combat grade utility.
For the price, try one out. Last edited by stitcher; December 13, 2012 at 17:04. Reason: typo |

I received a CRKT Tac folder last Christmas and was very impressed by it. I will look into this model now! Thank you!

I have both the Hammond Cruiser and an Ignitor. The Cruiser, though well made,is too large for me for everyday carry. Very heavy, very thick.I find the Ignitor a better choice.
