Cerakoted my Tantal

i had my Interarms Tantal Cerakoted in graphite black. the guy that did it for me ripped off the rubber stopper on the buttstock. is there a place where i can find and extra one to install, or should i just buy another surplus buttstock? also....as you can see from the pics, he re-installed the triburst selector upsidedown. gunna have to fix that. other than that, im glad i finally got a finish on this riffle.......the grey park just wasnt doing it for me.

How does the graphite black compare to the original black finish on lets say the Bulgy 74 kits? Is it a flat black, satin or semi gloss?

it is very similar to the black finish on my SGL rifles. it is not flat or glossy by any means. i would say that it is satin, but the black itself is not a deep black.

i asked about that. i assumed the park would stay on and the Cerakote would be layed on top. the guy said that even the park needed to be stripped. so my understanding is that the park was stripped.

I had been told different things by different people a few Cerakote appliers said emphatically "bare metal ONLY" more said "sure why not?" casually when I had inquired about a 30 Carbine I had put a black synthetic stock on and had had parked. I wanted a 'blackout' effect..............

yeah, i am not sure why they say it needs to bare metal. i guess Cerakote is a different animal from other finishes. it feels almost like a powder coat as opposed to a more slick enamel finish. in a way it is like a black park. it soaks up oil and holds it in its pores.

My gun-painter guy is Trident Industries, and he's been doing high-tech finishes in automotive and firearms for fifteen or so years. And he just won a contract for 40 rifles for the US Air Marshals - whatever that means.

He does cerakote over the top of park. I'm not saying that cerakote must be done over park, but I don't think the park has to be stripped to put cerakote on a rifle.
