Which tall scope mounts?

I have a Leapers scope mount, and a Leapers Full Size AO Mil-dot Scope, 1 x 4-16 x 40 scope.
I purchased taller mounts in anticipation of needing them and hopefully to be able to use my iron sights, as I am a big proponent of dual capability sighting.
The sights I purchased were Leapers AccuShot Premium 1-Inch Weaver Style See-Thru High-Pro Rings, and they need about another 1/2" in height to give me the needed clearance.
Any suggestions?

Since I couldnt get any help I bought this Stanag style Leapers mount to see if it will rectify my problem, fingers crossed

now you need a pad on your stock to get your head up high enough to see thru the scope.

what I and others have done is this. use a small 1-4X,
2-6X, 4X or 6X scope. mount it as low as you can using LOW QD rings. mount the scope just in front of the rear sight. Use Quick Disconnect rings made in the US not China.

now you have a usable rifle w/o a great big scope hanging off of it. if you want to use your sights just take off your scope shoot then put your scope back on using the QD rings.

Mount this all on a DSArms top cover and good quality QD rings and it should repeat.

don't worry about your front sight being in the way. the scope focuses 50 yards or so in front of it and you won't even see your front sight. the scope will look right past it.

Thanks, the problem is that the scope I have is what I would like to use, for target shooting. With the current ring mounts I have on it, it just does barely clear the front handguards, so I cannot go any lower with that scope.
I want all my weapons to be able to fire either through iron sights or a scope, like my AK and AR does. Unless I can find quality taller sights, I think the stanag mount is gonna be my only option for the moment.

One of the things I want to try to do is 6-700 yard scoped firing with my FAL, I enjoy trying for the best shot group possible, then at closer distances comparative shot groupings iron vs scoped.
One of my pals suggested the scope I hope it does as good as said... I try to competing against my previous best

Going to try the Sarco Argy Stanag mount with my Argy FAL, I think with the proper scope I can still use the iron sights. Based on what I have read the type IV kit para rear sight and the closed ear front sight in this kit is the correct to utilize this mount.

Looking for a Hensoldt or equivalent Stanag scope now, as I think they would enable both to be used. I did get the picatinny top mount in case I cannot find a decent price on one.
When I get the 922 parts and get it assembled. I will take pics and confirm.
I realize this setup is not the ultimate in stability accuracy, but I am hoping to keep this historically accurate of possible.
What scopes did the Argy troops use, anybody know?

IMHO a High ring set-up on the FAL is all jacked up and tough to use.. Proper cheek weld is impossible with-out some goofy riser or pad.
While I "understand" the duel sighting option/intent I think with this application it's not worth the trouble.

Mount the optic on a proper set of low (low as possible) rings and simply select a Q/D type set up.. IF/WHEN your optic fails simply remove it and use your irons....

BTW, the mount will work well with the Hensholdt but I can't see using it for anything else..

I also like the TRILUX which is a nice combo of clear optics and low magnification fitting for this rifle.

I realize that wanting dual iron and scope capability/compromise is not going to be the best accuracy, and my efforts to achieve this may be in vain.
My attempt with the UTG stanag mount was unsuccessful.
How does your Hensoldt Stanag shoot?
Other than the cheek weld does it work well?

Actually the Stanag aint that bad as far as cheek weld goes but it is of course holding up the Hensholdt rather then a more modern optic so that might be diff.?
Also while you can see "through" the stanag it's awkward at best for me..

Ok, now my DSA order should be in tomorrow, building Sunday with Stimpy, SARCO Stanag mount will be in tomorrow, Hensoldt should be in next week.
My dream FAL is getting closer!!!!
