There is significant fault here on both sides of the law, the owner was incredibly ignorant for even walking his animal in that direction and even more ignorant for refusing to stop when told to do so. It would also appear that the officers were overly aggressive toward the animal which may have or have not growled at the officer who just grabbed and threw it's owner to the ground. It will be ruled a justified shooting and nothing will come of it. The bottom line is American citizens need to approach any and all encounters with law enforcement with extreme caution, they can be hazardous to your health and your bank account.

I think the dog owner here is truly an ignorant and naive fellow.

Well, hell, I believed courts of law were interested in justice before my turn in divorce court.

Now he is wiser...he understand that oinkers are NOT your friend, and any interaction with pigs has the potential for disaster, and that oinkers will use damn near any excuse to bestow violence with impunity.

And some cops wonder why some folks either turn around and walk quickly away or even RUN away. Stay away from cops, they ain't your friends. And don't try to help them and/or give them information you think would be helpful. You know the old saying "no good deed goes unpunished". That old saying has involvement with cops written all over it. I don't like it and I wish things were not that way but thems the facts.

Is there a single case of unjustified shooting of a dog by an LEO? Not a court settlement or an offer to pay for a new dog or whatnot. I'm talking charges for animal cruelty, that sort of thing- you know, what would happen to me if I just walked up to someone and shot their dog in the head with no provocation.

I think an LE got in trouble awhile back for abusing his issued K-9 unit. That is similar to the only LE in the USA I can think of who is sitting on death row also. Care to guess the occupation of the person that LE killed?

Looks to me like the guys is walking away from police on a public sidewalk, is thrown to the ground and has his dog shot (with a rifle!) mere feet away. Glad is wasn't me, I'll be doing hard time if some SOB ever shoots my dog.
