Marlin,
Please receive this in the correct spirit: You have come a long way over these past few years with your temper and all, and even if we don't see exactly eye to eye on issues of faith I count you as a brother seeking to honor our Lord. Given the non-religious nature of our relationship with God I know we all make mistakes and fall back on our long term sinful nature from time to time as we are not perfect, only forgiven. I never saw Jason flip you anything other than respect and friendship, of course I could have missed something but certainly not in this thread. So when I read the emails from your post corrections I knew you would feel bad about how you were treating Jason and once you cooled off would make it right. I guess I am still waiting for you too cool off and re-read if you need to.. God Speed Bro David

I didn't actually see him say that, so I must have missed the intent from both sides here. ![]() What I thought I saw was one guy who's a friend say to another guy who's a friend, something like this: "So, busting Marines in a Navy town looks like a rookie mistake - I'll have to get the stories from you." Included with a smiley face, which means he's joking - probably not about the "...get stories from you" part, but the "rookie mistake" part. Looks like he's having fun, and its not even at your expense, really. Obviously I missed something.

Tin Hairs = worrying about FA and other stuff at the shoot. Pages of that from last year. Tiger Cruise= If you knew, why the problem? Rookie= by your own admission it was your first job, thus the term rookie, like in football or baseball. Would you have preffered "Red Shirt Freshman?" Stories= maybe some funny anecdotal ones. I'm sure no one wants to hear about the bad things you had to see and endure. I don't know where the hell you got "because you didn't serve" from. I could give 2 shits if you served or not, and I never have put down anyone for not doing so. Obviously you looked WAY too deep in what I said. And I don't crayfish, or delete my posts. Have a good week.

um Marlin I believe the "he" in that was not you at all but was either Jason or someone associated with same.. just the way I read it bro.
and I'm butting in here only because you are both friends and you and I went this route a few years ago because of misunderstood text. ETA: by the way though your and Jason's current misunderstanding is far more important I don't see you answering my comments, wth? also per your PM I watched the first video entirely - no time to watch others atm. now I have to go put down an old friend and furry companion. ^ This is where it is at. Hey, Tuscan - I've been talking to Pluskat, and it is pretty simple: 1) You wrote: Quote:
Sentence 2 = Oh, yeah - Pluskat's going to be worrying about the Feds again (and this was offered by you in good fun - with all of us understanding that) Sentence 3 = Actually, we might not have to worry. He might be on a Tiger Cruise. Problem is that "he" looks like it refers to the guy you were just talking about - which is Pluskat. And in his old world (policing sailors and marines off duty), Tiger Cruises weren't cool opportunities for people getting on the boat, they were shit duty for sailors who had to baby-sit political douchebags 24/7/365 - even to the john with them. Basically adult baby-sitting for screw-ups. Which meant that the "rookie cop" thing, which is not a big deal by itself, was just added to the fire. If you look at the "he" being directed at Pluskat, it goes like this: 1. Gatling gun - FTW!! 2. Pluskat will be whining again 3. Don't worry - he'll prolly miss it, because he and his PITA attitude will be being baby-sat somewhere else - by people who actually served in the military (Navy) Now I know (and I think most people took it this way), that "he" referred to our friend from Idaho who might own a "six-barrelled" opportunity to rock - who might not make it this year because he's got the chance to get on a carrier from Hawaii to San Diego. I knew this the moment you wrote it - in spite of the fact that I had to go back and read it twice - since the "he", which normally refers to the guy you were just talking about, followed Pluskat's name - not the big D's name. This is made more clear by the fact that you were saying stuff like "I love you guys, too, but I'd miss the FAL shoot for a Tiger Cruise, too", and other stuff like that. Bottom line: Pluskat is in a bad way right now, and is dealing with some heavy shit. Which news he got that same day. And he thought you were saying that he was a PITA who might miss the FAL Shoot to go off and be babysat by anyone but us, which would be good for the rest of us. You didn't mean any of that - but the rest was down hill. I know this is a bad misunderstanding - nothing meant by either side. I strongly suggest that you continue your plans to attend, so PSL54Junkie's idea above can be consummated by the two of you. Maybe after a couple of PMs from each side.

1. Agreed
2. Agreed 3. Agreed I wasn't saying you did anything wrong. I also said that I 'got' what you were saying, and that I expected that most people did, too. And you, and everyone, saw that I gave you the "well played" .I merely pointed out that typically people who read English expect a pronoun to 'modify' or 'refer to' the proper noun (person) directly preceding it. Pluskat did just that - and understood that he was the 'object' of the word "he". And then he went negative. I'm not telling you or asking you to do anything. Just saying that it was a misunderstanding that looks to me like it is based on unclear sentence structure (yours), and a bad attitude at the wrong time (his).

Jason,
I won't do this with a PM since it's not fair to have everyone else watch the whole season of the soap opera...and then not get to see the 'season finale'. ....here's where the problem started... Quote:
I couldn't understand what was motivating your posts that I obviously didn't take as 'joking', but I also wasn't going to be silent. Now, as this thing started to deteriorate...and it was clear that your intent behind the statements had been 'misread'...I have to ask, why you did not simply clarify? Please don't say you did....initially. You defended...you inferred I was wrong...but you didn't really attempt to clarify until I had obviously gone down the wrong road. You appeared content to let me spool up as you stood by and looked around at others saying "can you believe this guy?" and for the record...you've added an additional insult.... Quote:
Really?!? You'd actually miss the shoot because I'm "moody"? How does a guy go from cooking me a steak for breakfast (instead of the sausage everyone else was eating) out of respect for my religious convictions...and then, because I'm moody, decide to bag the next year's shoot? (I had a hard time eating that steak btw 'cuz of the lump in my throat over the respect shown by your effort) Don't miss the shoot because of me. If you'd like, I'll consider myself served with a 'restraining order' and I won't stand/camp/eat/shoot near you the entire weekend. What's that....ridiculous?....yeah, it makes about as much sense as you missing the shoot 'cuz you think I'm moody. Do you think I like everyone that attends....or, think that everyone likes ME?...hardly, but I'll be good and damned if I'll let someone I dislike...or who can't stand me...is gonna keep me from showing up if I choose to go. This is the internet. Stuff gets twisted and original intent misses/gets missed. We BOTH should've kept that in mind throughout this mess. (and for the record....I've NEVER asked you for an apology...it's the internet)

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone. I'm thankful for the friends I've made on the Files. You all are a great bunch of people.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I hope this holiday season is a good one for all of you.
It is very unlikely I can make it to the shoot this year. I'd love to attend it again, as last year was a great introduction . Unless something goes awry, I'll be in the middle of my MOS schooling.

Okay - do your best, and don't let the bastards grind you down. Thanks for your service. Get ready to keep your oath.
Peace.
