What can you tell me about TOPS knives ?
Hey guys,
I guess on here are a few that either own or have owned TOPS knives. What can you tell me about the model you owned and its quality / workmanship / finish ? What did you use it for ? How does it compare to other brands such as Gerber, Cold Steel, Boker, Puma etc ? ![]() Pete |

I own about 7 of there knifes and I love them.
Very well and and very HEAVY duty. I would put them above Gerbers, and the rest but not against my early Pumas. Just make sure you are getting the real deal as there is a lot of copies out there that look just like Tops Knifes.

Thanks, RR !
I can get a TOPS Hawke's Hellion Survivor 2020 Elite for about $125 plus s&h. The blade is a tanto shape with sawteeth on the spine. ![]() Pete |

ESEE and scrap yard are better values, grinds (generally) and warranties.
Most of the Tops knives have thick stock 1095 with short saber grinds to very thick edges. The horrible Tom Brown Tracker is possibly the worst example of this. The prices are also pretty high for what you are getting. There are a few decent models, with serviceable looking geometry, but most have crap written all over the blades and many seem tailored to the mall ninja aesthetic. |

I like my "Dawn Warrior" well enuff. It's a tool to me. It stays in the Bravo; or in the gear bag 'till I need it.
I'm not particularly fond of the wrinkle paint finish; but WTH..it's a protective coating and doing it's job Same with the *??* plastic sheath..especially he clip-on dealie..but hey! at least it matches my newish plastic holster! ![]() If they float yer boat, style-wise; no reason not to pick one up .

Never handled one myself.... I think there was only the one design I found appealing but I can recall what it was now. The price (for 1095) seemed a little on the high side to me as well.
