chest rig for 308 ??

I am getting one of these for AK47 mags, but saw that they also have a relatively new design for 308 mags.

Take a look and let me know what you think?

Not sure if I would call 5 AK mags (steel ones at least) a light load. I do know 6 in a Chinese rig made me want to stick to the 3 mag version, although the one on their site does have wider straps.

Olongapooutfitters.com makes custom rigs for your rifle of choice. Can make them in many camo colors including MARPAT and Multicam. They also hold 8 mags. Check em out. They're about a month behind. Totally worth the wait.

They make good gear. Many professional soldiers and contractors are using their gear in combat. A friend bought several of the AK 7,62 rigs and we put them on and comenced to beat the shite out of them. We crawled through water, sand, mud, dirt and rocks of various sizes. Climbed over wall of wood, brick and block and they held up pretty good. We did this for several days in a row and on the last day we were chest deep in a nasty, foul smelling swamp for a little over a mile.

I'd say buy it. I personally run all High Speed Gear Inc. stuff now. They make the best tactical gear IMO. You might want to check them out, especially the Taco mag pouches which will hold any military type rifle mags.

These look like the best deal. The high speed rigs look great, but they are so expensive! The OP's suggested rig looks good too. I guess it depends on if you wanna carry 5 mags or more.

308 chset rig

I have the Beez 308 chest rig in the 4 mag configuration. It is a first class piece of gear, very well thought out, very comfortable to wear. If you get one, make sure to get it with the forward-pull adjustment option, makes any adjustments you wish to make fast and easy.

Made by a Marine ta boot. They cinch down if ya only wanna run with four. I kinda like the option of turning into a messenger bag mag tote as well. Plus MARPAT works so well around here and they're using the real deal. Happy camper with mine. A .45 will fit in the map pouch as well.

Here is 1 caveat I have found with all the elastic band rope, etc stuff out there.... the rubber band material WILLL lose elasticity and fail... not a matter of IF but WHEN... I have a pretty good vest that has tones of pockets, can hol 8 30rd L4A1 curved mags, etc BUT alll the elastic loops for pistol mags, grenades in the pouches, etc all are all 'dead. Now I have to cut them and just pack the crap in.... cant find another vest like it so making up one... but I will be staying with velcro/snaps....

Just saying it IS worth considering given the $$$ on a lot of this gear...

I can do rigs for 30 round 7.62mm magazines, AK mags, AR15 mags, even SMG stick mags. I also make custom rigs out of 100D Cordura and I have access to MULTICAM. They are extra because the material is EXPENSIVE per yard.

Send me a note, describe what you are looking for and I can tell you what I can do.

You should add this to your market place ad.

Never did like chest rigs. When I go prone, I want to be as flat and close to the ground as I can be without my spine sticking up waiting to be shot.

I don't think so. I have several HSGI Taco pouches, modular open top magazine pouches and their universal mag pouches all of which has the shock cord and it's still good to go. These pouches have been through moderate to heavy use in summer rain, swamp water, dirt, mud, rocks, brambles and winter cold and the cords haven't lost their elasticity yet. If they do i bought extra shock cords and can fix it without sewing.
HSGI stuff has been used in combat operations all over the world and has a lifetime warranty not to mention it's made in America by Americans. I would rather trust my life to gear that costs more than buy some cheap foreign crap or even cheaper surplus foreign crap.

well trying to get pouches and such for the 308 mags have not always been easy and aside from the elastic bands in the various pocket on my vest, everything else is primo... of course I have had to for like 10 years also..

I have picked up some dual pouches that were made for the military for the sr25 rifle ,they are labeled as such and made by a company called 'paraclete'

I still intend to get a mag bra from '101' just need to decide on 4-5 20's or '30's
I think I once asked about doing a custom 4/30's in the 'rear' and another 4/20's sewn on the front, kind of a 2 level 'DD' mag bra canr remember if he said I was nuts or not.. maybe...

I understand the American made and lifetime stuff.... well maybe the smog and UV or ozone or whatever here in Kommiefornia kills stuff faster.... and a lifetime warrantee is only good til it messes up at the wrong moment... dont want a 'snap' then the mags go tumblin out to the dirt and such...just sayin, to each our own..

I've also used the SR-25 10-Speed pouches from Blue Force Gear with FAL mags. They're a bear to get the mags into but hold really well. Had them stock on a MOLLE belt, I believe.

Here is a company that seems to not get mentioned much that produces what I think is excellent gear. They are not dirt cheap, but you you get very high quality gear for your money. Just thought I'd throw this out there.

I have one of 101's 'Rhodie' chest carriers and like it very much. All my other stuff is Tactical Tailor.

When the mags are not carried depth-wise, but just the width of the mag, going prone is not a problem.

I have the same thing and it's perfect for FAL mags. I added a fastex buckle to the waist strap and hit the entire thing with a little OD and black Krylon. I was thinking of adding snaps to the mag pouches and getting rid of the wood toggles, but they sure are quiet. Since the pouches only hold one mag there is no need to close it back once the mag has been extracted.... Hmm..

Another happy owner of 101's Rhoadie Chest Rig.

I went prone wearing mine and it was not a problem since
the mag pouches are for single mags.

Very good workmanship on these!!

You should try it out if you are just looking to carry
only mags.

If you don't like it someone here will prob buy it from you....
