Sign The Petition To Stop The US From Signing The Arms Trade Treaty!
From Dickmorris.com...
Dear Friend, On July 27th, the nations of the world are scheduled to meet in New York to sign a global Arms Trade Treaty (ATT). Disguised as a way to prevent the proliferation of small arms throughout the world, it is, in fact, a backdoor way to legislate gun control in the United States and effectively repeal our Second Amendment. The ATT will set up a global body, which will require all nations to regulate firearms so that they can prevent their exportation to other countries. Inevitably, this will require countries to inventory the guns in private hands and to register them. A gun ban is not far away. The ATT, under the Supremacy Clause of the US Constitution, would have the power of a constitutional amendment and would, effectively, repeal the Second Amendment guaranteeing us the right to bear arms. We must fight to stop the US from signing the treaty and, if we fail, block Senate ratification. Please sign the petition below and include your name and address so we can send it to your Congressman and Senators. We'll add your email address to our Alerts list so we can keep you posted on progress and next steps. Thanks very much. Dick Morris Sign the Petition Here

I've signed, my wife's signed, my parents have signed and my senators are on record against it. If you haven't signed AND contacted your senators, please do so! The deadline draweth nigh...

I got mine in, I don't think it will make any difference with Senator Boozman as I think he will do the right thing but the other two I'm not sure about. I had to sign on when I seen it was Dick Morris hosting the site.
Thank you. James

Does anyone here or at dickmorris.com honestly believe 400 million signatures on a petition will even slow these pukes down from doing whatever the hell they want? Especially if they can enforce it without the senate taking a vote? Time for a reality check.

Your point is well taken, and I don't suggest going down without a fight. It's easy to be cynical right now, given the track record of th dc crowd. I did sign the petition.

Well... here's one of my Senator's responses:
Dear Mr. Falcon: Thank you for sharing your opposition to the United Nations (UN) Arms Trade Treaty, commonly known as the Small Arms Treaty. The transfer of conventional arms is a crucial national security concern for the United States. In 2008 alone, the U.S. was responsible for over two-thirds of the $55.2 billion in international arms transfer deals. The proposed Small Arms Treaty would set international standards for the export, import, and transfer of conventional weapons, or small arms, in addition to strengthening current regulations. The U.S. Department of State reversed the U.S. position on the Small Arms Treaty in October 2009, which overturned the position of former President George W. Bush. In 2006, under the leadership of President Bush, the United States was the only nation that opposed a resolution calling for the creation of an international treaty on the sale of small arms and to continue talks. The Bush administration argued that national controls are more effective. In reversing the Bush era opposition to consideration of a Small Arms Treaty, Secretary of State Hilary Clinton announced that the United States would participate in negotiations, “as long as the conference operates under the rule of consensus decision-making needed to ensure that all countries can be held to standards that will actually improve the global situation by denying arms to those who would abuse them.” Under the rule of “consensus decision-making,” the U.S. is ensuring that decisions on the treaty are unanimous, allowing member countries to veto agreements. Secretary Clinton argues that consensus agreements will close many of the potential loopholes in the treaty that could be exploited by irresponsible arms agreements. While I understand your concerns about U.S. participation in negotiations regarding the Small Arms Treaty, U.S. membership and participation in the United Nations and other international organizations is entirely voluntary. The United States is in no way obligated by provisions of international treaties or agreements unless they have been ratified by the U.S. Senate, an act requiring that at least two-thirds of the Senate vote in favor of ratification. As a result, the U.N. possesses no authority to supersede our Constitution or compel our government to take actions contrary to our own interests. I will keep your views in mind should the Arms Trade Treaty be brought before the Senate for consideration. Thank you again for contacting me. Please feel free to keep in touch. Sincerely, Richard J. Durbin United States Senator Dayuum, I hate this &#%$@*^% state

The problem is that Durbin supports this treaty and gun control. The best thing I ever did was to leave Illinois.

Signed, I may actually write and call my representatives as well. I can't remember where I heard it or if it's true, but I was told that every person that calls or writes represents 500 people who don't, but feel the same way.
