Putting an Inch kit on a metric receiver
What problems if any would I encounter if I assembled an Inch kit onto a metric receiver?

No probs that I've read about....
Lots of the Century rifles that came in were all inch kits on metric receivers...
Just make sure it's all inch...a metric front sight and inch rear sights are different heights....that is true for Indian sights too. The builders can tell you more about anything they ran into.

Carry handle needs to be cut to clear the metric or cut the upper to clear the handle. Dust cover won't fit because of the tabs. Other than that, everything is pretty much interchangeable. The barrel will need a breaching washer to headspace properly. A little more difficult to figure out over the metric but not that hard. Forgot to mention that you can't use inch mags in a metric upper. Tab is different. Metric will work in an inch cut though.

You can do it but if you blaspheme a British kit with a metric receiver, it will scream "BOLLOCKS!!" each time you fire it.

My favorite FALs are inch kits on metric recs..... I've got 2 cherry brits on metrics, 1 on a Grayslake the other on a FMAP....
The CH cut is no biggie, if you don't have access to a mill you can do it with simple hand tools, if your rec/barrel combo doesn't require a breeching washer you'll get a tighter HG fit with a metric HG retainer Good luck with your build bro!

The best of both worlds, Inch doodads an' metric mags!
![]() If Coonan drops the ball, there will be another Brit on a TI metric receiver by spring of '13. ![]() Sad to see an L1A1 lay idle awaiting nothing but a receiver.

You need to use a breeching washer on the barrel. It's best to use a metric top cover, don't cut the tabs off a good inch one. The bolt hold open may need modifing or get a metric one, I have done both. The mag catch spring may need a couple coils cut off. I have built six inch rifles on metric receivers it does take a little modifing but it's not hard to do. All I ever used was hand tools and files it takes a little longer but it's harder to screw up when you are going slow.
