A day at the range with the new rifles.

Took my new Savage BV .22 LR to the range, as well as my Savage .308 "Hog Hunter". Both shot really nice. The .308 has a Nikon 4.5-14x40 Buckmaster on it and factory open sights as well as a threaded 20 inch med contour barrel. Not a bad setup for $499 from Cabelas in Billings Montana. They also make one in .223. I figure that would make a nice coyote rig. The Savage Mark II in .22lr is fun to shoot, have a Bushnell 3-9x40 Elite scope on that and it's stock is very comfortable. The 102 degree temps didnt stop me from having a good shoot. Here are a couple low res pics.

at 50yds the .22lr shot some ammo side by side. Ha a good wind despite the burms so couldnt really ring it out. Also was using some crap Remington ammo. My Aguila SSS actually was consistent and the Federal red box stuff was more consistent than both of those.

The 308 shot just a hair over an inch at 100 yrds with Sellier&Bellot 147g FMJ (I am not a great shot regardless). I am saving all the brass for future reloads for that rifle!

Savages are some of the most accurate rifles out of the box. My Savage .243 is one of my favorites

Have a picture? I love the .243 as its a small game getter and also an excellent coyote round as well. I had a CZ 550 in that caliber and it was a sad day having to sell it.

Savage rims, love 'em. Really hard to beat for the money, same goes for their center bolts.

Thanks, it is pretty! I shot it again just a couple days ago and it printed really well at 75 yds with the Federal 38 grain hollowpoint (copperplated) bulk ammo. I put some SSS Aguila 6o grainers thru it to and though not quite the same it is more than accurate enough to take a doggie at that range. With the federal I had alot of cloverleafs while the SSS spread jsut a bit beyond that.
