Aimpoint PRO mini reveiw
I recently purchased an aimpoint PRO red dot sight to mount on my AR carbine. I ended up getting it from aim for 400 dollars shipped. Upon arrival my optic shipped in a box with owners manual, battery and QRP2 mount. One of the things that attracted me was the mount, because in the past you would spend 400-500 for an optic and have to spend another 200 for a good mount. This optic also came with flip open covers and three years of battery life. Upon inspection I could see why aimpoint has such a reputation for being rugged. This thing feels way more solid than other optics I have handled before. Keep in mind this is my first aimpoint. Another thing I like about this sight is the dot is 2moa and it has 9 brightness settings. Battery life is supposed to be 3 years. I have left it on in my safe set on #6, so we will find out real life battery life. Mounting was simple with the QRP2 grabber mount. Just install and turn until tight, then turn the knob until it clicks three times. I was skeptical about how solid this would be, but so far seems very solid. Initial range trip was a breeze. I sighted it first at 50 yards using a 75 grain handload I know shoots well from this gun. My first two shots were low and after adjustment I fired 16 rounds off hand into 3 1/2" at 50 yards. Adjustments are 1/2 moa and clicks were very audible with no wondering wether it moved or not. After this the weather started to go south, so I moved over to the 100 yard range, so I could put it on a sandbag and see how precise I could shoot it at that range. I was impressed with putting 5 rounds into 1 1/2". My initial impression with this optic was very positive. Enjoy, Chris

I don't knkw how well it will work on a fal, but I would be willing to bet they are up go the task. These are some tough optics.

I have used an Aimpoint M2 on my FAL off and on for quite a while and it holds up to the recoil just fine.
In fact it's going back on my para next trip to the range. Has never failed to hold zero and it always works. Aimpoints are one of the few electronic optics that will hold up to the FAL. I would always choose an Aimpoint over an Eotech for use on an FAL. Shoot safe, EMSflyer |

PRO vs. Lucid HD7 for a FAL
Can anyone comment about the merits of the PRO vs. a Lucid HD7 on a FAL? I've currently got a Primary Arms 4x on my DSA para-tactical with the extreme-duty mount. It does ok for what it is, but I'd like to go to a RDS and was looking pretty intently at the PRO until the HD7 caught my eye. The latter scope is claimed by Lucid to be able to handle the recoil of the SOCOM .458, so that should be no issue on a FAL. The HD7 wins the price battle, but money aside, are there any reasons I'd be better off with the Aimpoint?

In my view the aimpoint is just money well spent. They are hand's down the toughest rds made. They are worth every cent. The pro is the cheapest one and still has a 5 year battery life. Buy once cry once is good to live by.

Thanks, that's kind of how I'm leaning at the moment. Hoping someone can post a pic of a PRO on a FAL. All the pics I've seen have been with an AR and they seem to sit kind of high, which could be problematic for cheek weld on a para.
