Nothing in the pipeline yet. With a MRBF rate averaging 25,000+ rounds, the L85A2 is likely to be in service for another 10 years I'd say.

Re: the ACOG; it was fitted as a UOR (Urgent Operational Requirement) at Unit request so it was never on general issue. The SUSAT has now been officially superceded by the Elcan Specter LDS (Lightweight Day Sight) and is being phased-in as we speak.

In 10 years most of us will be in our 60s. Hopefully, many or most of us will keep up with PT (Physical Training - for those of use who served in Uncle Sam's Armed Forces), and retain strength and flexibility in our old age. Hopefully, most of us will still be able to shoulder and take the recoil of the FALs at that age instead of having to worry about Depend and Metamucil.

QUESTION: If anyone here owns an Ishipore L1A1 SLR, won't you comment on its quality, workmanship, and accuracy? I surely would appreciate your comments and learn more about these rifles. I just don't see anyone here in the States owning or offering them for sale any where. The only ones I see on sale are British, Australian-New Zealand, and Canadian. How come no Indian SLR are ever offered? Is there something wrong with them that nobody want them?

There are plenty of people building them. Many of the early Century thumbhole rifles used Indian parts.

They are often thought of as crude copies of an L1A1/FAL but the parts I have other than the machining being slightly rougher in some instances still works the same as any other L1A1 I have. The Indian 1A1 parts that have come in have also been very abused so finding a pristine NOS Indian parts is not possible.

UK and US soldiers strengthen ties with jump onto Salisbury Plain:

Over 150 paratroopers from the UK and the United States have parachuted together onto Salisbury Plain as part of an annual exchange programme called Exercise Airdrop Warrior.

Pudsey-based soldiers from 4th Battalion The Parachute Regiment (4 PARA) joined forces with members of the US Army's Civil Affairs and Psychological Operations Command (Airborne) who are based at Fort Bragg in North Carolina.
The paratroopers built on their knowledge and experience of airborne operations by jumping using each other's equipment and both nations' Hercules C-130 aircraft.

The opportunity to parachute in another nation's parachute equipment allows the soldier to wear that country's coveted wings.
The US paratroopers flew into the UK only days before jumping with the Brits. They are over in Europe not only to establish and continue working relations with the Paras, but also to take part in a parachute jump into Normandy.

This will be the 68th anniversary of the D-Day landings, and was when the partnership was first forged. The American reserve unit has been taking part in the re-enactment for the last 17 years. Two US C-130 aircraft were brought over for the occasion but the US paratroopers got to jump out of a British Hercules.

COMMENTARY: I don't know anything about her character. On the surface she probably will make a good man a lovely wife and a wonderful Mom for the kids one day.

I must say I never saw any active duty soldiers dressed like that. Also my Mrs. is retired from 20 years active duty and she never once left the house dressed like that. If she had I would have been asking some questions.
