Well,

I dont use Google search because they are Commies to begin with, all the data gathering they do on your searchs isnt for your benefit. Now can someone show me an alternative to google earth or googlemaps?

I use Ixquick.com They don't record your ISP number to "keep track" of your searches.

I use google but only to mess with their intel gathering. I'll goggle all kinds of stuff that i'm not even into nor do i care about. They must think i'm a well rounded individual because i goggle everything that's legal.
Take that goggle spies

Edit: I read the article. I just went to google and typed in 5.56 ammo and got all kinds of responses. The person writing the article said when they typed 5.56 ammo they got no results. I'd say it's bs. They do spy on ya though but then again so does everyone else.

Political Correctness, run amok:
Google Shopping Censors All Gun, Ammo and Accessories Results

Based on a recommendation in the above linked story, (and the changes go into full effect on 1, July 2012)
I have made a necessary change to my home page/search engine. The duck duck go search engine is a
"one man band", a single owner operator based in Valley Forge, PA, and does not seem to be effected
by "Left Coast Politics & Policies" (AKA California wack-job thinking) and the best part is that there are
no records kept of your searches, unlike google and others so your business is kept as your business
and not subject to being sold to the highest bidder or handed over to some alphabet agency that decides
to censor what you are doing whenever it feels like doing so without any regard for your constitutional rights

and of course as usual, YMMV

http://duckduckgo.com/
^^^ new recommended search engine/home page

http://www.ghacks.net/2012/02/02/why...search-engine/
^^^ a good tutorial on switching

Gibbs Rules that pertain to this are:

Rule #3: Don't believe what you're told. Double check.
Rule #8: Never take anything for granted.
Rule #36: If you feel like you are being played, you probably are.
Rule #39: There is no such thing as coincidence.
Rule #40: If it seems someone is out to get you, they are.

google and I think it was "A-O Hell" were on 60 minutes about 2 or 3 years back.
they track and keep every email you send. They have 6 Years worth of EVERYBODIES emails archived on their current drives and supposedly can go back further then that!
The US govt (as in FBI, CIA, IRS etc) could NOT legally harvest all the info on you and keep a data base.
Private industry CAN. So when the govt needs info on you or anyone else, they BUY it from google and who ever else is selling it.!!!

I would like to be able to sue Google and its representatives. I get phone calls all recordings urging me to update my business listing with them. I use to just hang up but lately Ive been waiting to hear the press 9 to be taken off their list. That doesnt do any good. I got three recorded calls from them today. Cant make them stop

Wow, you mean Ricketts hasn't come along yet to defend them and say they can do what they want (which they can) and you can choose not to support them?

I bitched about Google last Independence day and he had a hissy fit...

Just did a check and Google shopping is not the same as Google Search. That said, I did search on Google Shopping for 5.56 ammunition and got 1 hit from Cheaper than Dirt for Federal XM855. Tried some other gun related key words and got zilch. Does that mean they are censoring it or there just isn't any merchant on the system yet? Just don't know.

A Google search for ammunition yield about a bazillion hits for every category I tried.

yes a general search yields many results

from the article about the change

Quote:
Dear Merchant,

We're writing to let you know about some upcoming changes to the product listings you submit to
Google. As we recently announced, we are starting to transition our shopping experience to a
commercial model that builds on Product Listing Ads. This new shopping experience is called Google
Shopping. As part of this transition, we'll begin to enforce a set of new policies for Google Shopping in
the coming weeks. A new list of the allowed, restricted, and prohibited products on Google Shopping is
available on our new policy page - http://www.google.com/appserve/mkt/ApI7UWRj6OCZpd.
I have various other shopping routes that give me what I wish,
but my main reason for change away from Google is the tracking they do
and they sell my info any way they want, I am tired of having so damn many ads
all the same crap at every click, microsucks is bad enough with their swiss cheese OS
I switched to a Imac a few years back to get a stable platform from which to work
google search makes the same ads pop on every page you visit, now I do not
have that problem using http://duckduckgo.com/ to search

http://donttrack.us/
^^^ that site explains much about the tracking that is done to you

remember where you go to on the web should be your choice, not someone else's choice

ixquick, startpage and duckduckgo, all seem to be pretty good and all claim to not track/retain any info.

I was watching a few tv shows last night on hulu and the sponsor ads were not all coming thru

I guess the tracking info isn't available since I no longer use google

I have always limited cookies to be placed and wipe any that I do not wish to be on my system but,

its almost like they can't find me ............ bugger off google !
