Well whatya think??

As many of you know we opened in Nov. and for much of that time I've wanted to have a RELOADING section in the store.
It's always so friggin busy I've had a tough time putting it all together and kinda presenting the idea to the head Cheese...

Well a month or so ago I got the thumbs up and was given charge of the entire thing.. With that I have pretty much free reign to order what ever I want (think we can sell) and promptly put together several orders..
While not done just yet I've made some significant progress, here is where I'm at as of today.....

Drawing upon my own experience and considering current trends I've got a LOT of stuff but of course still want/need more. I know I'm gonna need some more die sets, shell holders and such as well as priming tools (on back order) but I'm pleased with the selection so far..

I'd be interested in things you guy's think I should be sure to have and would appreciate your comments..

Nice, and better selection than a lot of places!

I've been working on this for a couple weeks now and finally got the large bulk order delivered and inventoried. So far peeps seem very pleased, we've sold several K Primers, a good bit of 1lb jugs and a couple 8 lb jugs of powder.

More inbound too..
Even so it'll never be MIDWAY or WIDENER'S but if I can keep this stuff on hand and cover peeps basic needs I think it will be very good..

The dealers up this way don't carry reloading supplies much anymore. They claim everyone buys what they need from the net. Which is true in my case. I do buy my stuff in larger quantities off the net. However it sure is nice to be able to run down somewhere and pick up a can of 2400 because you ran out half way to being done. I can't count how many times I thought I had an extra lbs of a particular powder only to find I didn't. Then it's a week just to get an order here and I have to order a lot to make it pay for itself.

Looks great!
Maybe a supply of replacement tumbler media, spare decapping pins, lyman hand primer tool, bags of shot for the clays/bird gang.

All good ideas..
Shot is on the btm row, just 7-1/2's & 8's though...
Media as well as my hand prime tools where ordered but ended up on my back order list..
De-cap pins, most excellent idea and I'll be sure to get some..

You'd be doing a great service to your customers by getting rid of that One Shot crap.

Looks good. How much for the Giraud?

Might want to check on the legality of storing that much powder outside of a
proper cabinet. Fire Marshal probably wouldn't like it.

Nice looking set up, better than most of the ones I've seen.

I think you need a good single stage press in stock, a Rockchucker or Hornady would do nicely.
If you got one already, I missed it.

Unusual, to me at least, to see Wilson case gauges in a store. I always get a blank stare from the store clerk and end up ordering the thing on-line.

I'm sure your prices are competitive. Please keep them that way.

That is one beautiful section of counter space! I wish our local place looked that good!!

We're on the map as far as the shop goes and have begun E-mail notifications as of Sat.. We use E-mail lists (customers sign up at the store we don't buy lists) to notify customers of sales and store updates. It has proven very effective, we also do radio and local retail papers..

I have TWO RCBS Rockchucker "kits" on the shelf, as well as TWO DILLON Square deal presses (one in 9mm, the other .45acp), one HORNADY S/Stage Press, as well as an M.E.C. for 12ga., all this stuff is just out of the PIC to the left..

YES, trying to be very competitive yet still make a fair profit. The BIG thing here is know one carries this stuff anywhere around us. Best place for powder is at the Funshow in WPB which for anyone in this area is a 45 min drive South, plus your entry fee to the show and a half days (total) of dicking around.. I'll never be Wideners or Graf & Son but if I can keep a respectable inventory I think it will do pretty well..

Mike that is truly beautiful. If some of the local shops by me had that kind of selection I would not have to visit gun shows. That is the only reason I go to them these days. I see you are very close to the turnpike. I will make it a note to stop there next time I head to south Fl to visit my floks. I have been using space coast bullets for my cast bullets. They are a florida outfit. Chris

Missouri Bullet Co. for cast boolits.

Maybe some plastic ammo boxes, like MTM caseguard type boxes.

Maybe try to find someone to help you with bulk common 1X fired range brass, polished up and bagged for resale.

I suggest getting the Black Hills Ammo component catalog, they have one specially for '06 FFLs and one for dealers.

try and listen to your customer wants. i have 2 local shops around here, one is good to deal with and handles such items as 8mm brass and bullets while the other is almost worthless...( if its not in stock i won't order for you ) even if you want to pay up front.

Huh, that is interesting. I have never been to a store that does NOT have their powder on the shelf. Usually right next to the primers....

Mike,

Looks great! Wish anything in the area had a selection like that. We have one big store about 45 min away but their prices are OUTRAGEOUS unless you want onsie twosie type stuff.

Give me a ring if you ever wind up with work you need done. You know how to get ahold of me!
