Question WTK: Scout scope for Mauser?

I have a Yugo M48 Mauser that I mounted a long eye relief scope on but the scope was a pistol scope and had too much eye relief. I need something with an eye relief in the 8"-10" eye relief range.
I mounted a red dot on it for the time being but really wanted a scope around 4x for it. An adjustable (2-4x, 2-7x, etc.) would work as well.

Are any of you using long eye relief scopes? If so, what kind? What is the eye relief? Etc.?

BTW, I'm using an Accumount Yugo Mauser Dual Mount and can't say enough good things about this scope mount! No mods need to be done to your rifle as it replaces the rear sight of your rifle. It's been out for some time but figured I'd mention it for new firearm owners out there.

Thanks,
Bill

Doing some research, I may consider the Leupold FX-II 2.5x28 IER Scout scope.

Is anyone using one of these scopes? How do you like it? Being Leupold, I'm not concerned with quality, as I know it has it but am more concerned about eye relief. Think it's 9.3" which would put me right in the range I need.

I have scouterized a Mauser 98 and an Ishy Lee-Enfield and have both the dedicated scut rifle scopes, the Burris 2.75x and the Leupold 2.5x FX. Both are quality scopes and nothing against Burris, but I just prefer the Leupold quite a bit more.

I also think it would be nice to have variable magnification sometimes for longer range shooting. I had an accident that about cost my eye so I can't do the two-eyes-open snap shooting thing anymore anyway and have a 4x pistol scope on my 6.5 Swede scout. Just a junk NcStar pistol scope, but I've had it on the rifle for over ten years with nary a problem.

Leatherwood is now making a 2-7x32mm "Long Eye Relief Scout" but I don't really know anything about them or anyone who has one and I think it still has like 11-inch eye relief.

This guy over here in MT who sells the NcStars has a 2-7x32mm that's supposed to be 8.7 to 10.67 inches of eye relief. My NcStar has been dependable enough, but the light gathering at dawn and dusk kinda sucks.

Think I'm going with the Leupold FX-II. I know the quality is there, and will be in the future.
I don't know how the cheaper scopes will react to an Idaho winter. I know how Leupolds react.

Thanks for all the info.

I put a 2.5X Leupold on a sportered GEW98 that I had and really like it. I believe it is just a pistol scope but the eye relief seems right. Target acquisition seems almost automatic - I put the rifle to my shoulder and look through the scope and there it is - looking right at what I want to shoot. You can see pics of the rifle here;

I've got one on my Mosin scout. If you're going to have a scout scope setup, I can highly recommend the Leupold. It's an excellent scope. Eye Relief should be no problem on your Mauser.

I have had the Leupold Scout scope on my Rem Model 7 for 10-12 years now. I would buy another in the unlikely event this one ever failed me and Leupold couldn't / wouldn't fix it.

I got my Leupold FX-II 2.5x28 IER Scout scope, and it's mounted on my Yugo M48 Mauser. One word....NICE! I haven't dialed it in yet but I can tell it'll work great!

Got a new Leupold Vari-X III 4.5-14 for my AR-10T as well. It's mounted but not dialed in either. Trip to the range in the near future!

I have a Burris 2.75x on a Chilean Mauser and a NC Star 4x and a Yugo K98.

I like both, but the Burris is a better scope. In addition, the NC Star 4x has a tad too much magnification almost not being able to shoot with both eyes open.
