Guide Rod AK Pistol
Guys,
My understanding is that guide rod builds often drill a hole straight up through the front of the gas block to locate the front of the rod, the rear of the rod welded to the pushbutton thing that holds the recoil spring on standard AKs. Any idea how to locate the hole in the gas block so the rod is level with the travel of the carrier? Would be very bad to have a carrier that tries to run straight over a sloped rod. Thanks, Byron |

Look inside your gasblock, the chamber for the piston should have a vee shaped divot from the factory drilling. It should center your drill perfectly.

Not that I have done this, but what about making a drill guide bushing the same diameter as the piston head?

Quote:
Lower the gas rod head into the gasblock, then clamp the gasblock. Replace the gas rod with your drill bit of choice. Drill.
