What's the deal w/ these receivers?
Is there anything special about these BATF-wise?
http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/Vie...Item=292465193 n 2001 ATF expanded the scope of the firearms subject to the exception provisions of Title 18 U.S.C. §925(d)(3) to cover additional semi-automatic firearms including the FAL type receivers manufactured by IMBEL. The new policy that restricted the commercial sales of those receivers, provided an exception authorizing their importation on limited grounds for repair or replacement of existing firearms only. Pursuant to provisions of Title 27 C.F.R. § 478.112(d)(1), within 15 days of release from U.S. Customs, the serial number(s) of imported firearms must be reported to ATF. Therefore, ATF can readily identify the receivers that are subject to that restriction. This IMBEL receiver was imported in 2001 pursuant to an import permit that had been approved prior to implementation of that policy and did not contain any restrictions for lawful commercial sales. You are responsible for reading the full item listing, including the instructions and accepted payment methods. Please note that by registering your bid you agree to the following terms and enter into a legally binding contract to purchase this item. The contract invokes rights and obligations of the parties, therefore, if you have any concerns or are uncomfortable about any part of this auction please do not bid. gobbler |

Nope,
The most important thing is the BATF said no more were coming in. No where on the receiver does it say they can't be built into a new rifle. Thorack

short bus special!
The only thing special is apparently the proprietor got into a huge battle with the ATF over them (resolved, in his favor apparently). There are some really interesting items on the net about this and his ongoing ATF struggles. Worth a read if you ever dreamed about being an international arms dealer. Below is a link to a court case Pars was involved in (but didn't do anything wrong as far as I can tell). From there you can get Pars details for further searches. The guy is a second amendment defender.

I've bought from him before. He was also the source of Pat's (RIP) group buy receivers.
The only thing to watch out for when dealing with him is his prior dealings with the ATF have left him understandably wary of not following the book *exactly* (even when ATF has given guidance that supercedes it). If you don't follow his rules *exactly*, then no receiver for you! |

After all he has been through, he has every right to say I want it this way in his dealings. I'm sure the powers that be would love to bust his ass.
