Romney Curiously Mum........

........on Walker Recall Election

Quote:
DALLAS – For a candidate who could get a boost if Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker manages to keep his job after today’s recall election, presumptive GOP nominee Mitt Romney has stayed curiously quiet mum on the election since he last visited the state more than two months ago.

Prior to a campaign swing in Wisconsin in late March and early April, Romney came out strongly on behalf of Walker, telling voters from the state during a tele-townhall that he thinks Walker is an “excellent governor.”

“I support the governor in his effort to rein in the excesses that have permeated the public sector union and government negotiations over the years,” said Romney during the March call.

As Romney weaved in and out of small towns and cities across Wisconsin with Rep. Paul Ryan by his side, Romney mentioned Walker’s struggle to voters and even dropped by a phone bank making calls on the governor’s behalf.

At a town hall in Green Bay, Romney referred to Walker as a “real champion” and a “real fighter.”

By the time Romney reached Fitchburg, he gushed, “What an extraordinary man, what a guy!”

“I had the privilege of campaigning for Scott Walker and care very deeply about his election,” Romney said at the phone bank. “I anticipate that I will get to do that again and look forward to helping him.”

But Romney has not returned to Wisconsin since, and there are no specifics as to what he’s done to help Walker as he “anticipated” that day in April.

A spokesman for the Romney campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment on what Romney has done to help Walker since then, or whether he has reached out to Walker today.

Yep,

Just checking to see which way the wind blows before he commits words to anything. If Barret wins no doubt Gov Romney will congratulate him and look forward to working with him. Gov Romney is a very odious man, reminds me a lot of President Clinton. Could they be related?

I'm wondering if he has some chance for union support or if he thinks he'll score points with the Independents by not opposing the unions.
It's a foolish play on his part either way because he's alienating the Conservatives and without them he has no chance of carrying this state.

If he saw the trending was in favor of Walker why would he interject his political viability into the mix?
Th right church the wrong pew.
Politics 101 says don't rock the boat when the gunnel's are awash.
Wisconsin left to it's own devices could be a bell weather harbinger for the nation as a whole,,,, at least that's what the winner will say.

What's in it for Romney to get involved? Romney is focused on Obama and his incompetent administration. State's issues are a distraction at this point. Where's Obama in all of this? Silent...

Didn't wait till morning:

Quote:
SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Mitt Romney says the failed attempt to recall Wisconsin's Republican governor shows that voters want to cut spending and the results, in his words, "echo beyond the borders of Wisconsin."

The presumptive Republican presidential nominee said in a statement Tuesday evening that Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker stood up to "runaway government costs imposed by labor bosses" and demonstrated "what sound fiscal policies can do to turn an economy around." Romney says he looks forward to working with Walker.

Democrats and labor unions tried to oust Walker in response to his push to strip public employee unions of bargaining rights. Conservatives rallied behind him and he became the first governor to survive a recall.

Romney is on a two-day visit to Texas, and aides say Romney spoke by phone with Walker.

Locally here in Wisconsin we won.
Nationally unless the Republicans have a real candidate it's a lose/lose election year.

L Ron shows how to self destruct by making sure the average voter votes for Romney.

Obama's model was to smile and say "change".

Romney is actively not pissing off those who he needs to support him, other than the Lron contingent, who are already pissed off, and hopefully will vote for him to stop Obama, who is simply poison to America.

Believe me, after Lugar and Bennett's self destruction, the tea party is speaking loud and clear to Romney. He will stay with his committment not to pass any new firearms legislation.

The fact that Walker got money from the RINO establishment pisses off the dems no end and they are apoplectic today inside the West Wing, and at Axelrods, coup d etat, headquarters.

So now it's Ron Paul's fault that the average voter is stupid?

Nope, not a all, that is the fault of Wisconsins teachers.

L ron supporters are among the most informed in the nation and the most enthusiastic. They drive the tea party, believe it or not; it is just that the tea party did not support L.Ron.

That may not have been the case if Rand was the candidate, as he will eventually be. He is charismatic where, Ron is, well......... old and "squeeky".

And Romneys model is to flip flop so he can tell almost everyone what they want to hear.......

Romney has enough support from the kool-aid drinkers that will support him no matter what-even though he's just as much a poison as Obama is.

Quoted for posterity on his "committment not to pass any new firearms legislation".

Lucky for me that most of my education was in Illinois.

But he put up and continues to put up a hell of a fight.
I don't think that Rand, being a freshman, would have done as well. He has no street cred yet.
Pop's paving the way for him.
And you're right about the Tea party. Considering RP virtually created it all I can think is they've been absorbed by DC corruption.
I wonder if Rand can hold onto to his ethics like his dad has.

Edited to add: Dr. Paul may be "old and squeeky " but he was and still is the best candidate in the race.
