FAL/SCAR "SCAb"

Likely ultimately a silly inquiry, but how exactly is a para buttstock attached to a para lower? I mean the "plate" (or?) that supports the folding assembly and attached it to the lower. Is it forgiving/meaty enough that one could machine up a "blank" and have the distal end designed so as to allow attachment of another style hinged butt? I've searched fourm quite a bit but haven't found a string w/pics that show the lower ass on without a para stock installed. AND;

Thrust of the post: Is there a $ource for "real" FN SCAR stock assemblies? I've got this fantasy of a stubby barreled FAL with short railed/tactical hand gaurd and a SCAR buttstock on it.

I wonder if these "toys" stocks are rugged'nuff?

Anybody done anything like this yet? Is it feasible?

fireinc,

First, welcome to the FILES!

But please.... help me out....

I've been around for over 6 decades, American English is my Mamma's tongue, and the only time I ever hear "distal" is when the dentist is messing around inside my mouth and I can't ask him...

"What the Hell does "distal" mean??"

Is that the opposite of "Meezial"?

Sorry I can't help you with your question.

Once again, Welcome!

JWB

Howdy Jbrooks, thank you! Pleased to find this forum and a new hobby and so many enthusiasts (My Wife is not so enthused tho' ).

Ah, distal is a (medical ?) landmarking or descriptive term that essintialy means farther away from the main/core/center of an overall item than a referenced point/part.

Best,

Ed G.

Thanks, fireinc , I really learned a lot.

As a side comment, I don't really see any reason to use a SCAR type folder. I find the SCAR to be pretty clumsy when folded, the FAL folder is a lot nicer, IMO.

Cheers,

JWB

Look carefully at the angle of comb of the SCAR stock. It angles into your face. Now imagine that comb being punched into your face with the force of recoil of the 7.62x51

There's a reason why Weatherby chose the radical Monte Carlo cheekpiece for the stocks of his hard kicking magnums. They slope away from your face

When I first looked at the picture, it looked like Star Wars Storm Trooper Boots!

Airsoft and FAL do not go together.

If you want a folding stock, get a correct stock, or get an ACE stock if you want buttpads, odd sizes, or collapsible (AR15-type) stocks. ACE is performance proven.

You will regret putting plastic and/or monkey metal parts on a FAL.

I'm going to kinda disagree here, at the price it is worth a shot.

The Classic Army SCAR replica was a *very* sturdy piece, I would certainly be worth a try.

Just buy a scar and be done with it.

1+ on Ace. At the very least, their para adapter could most likely be modified to graft the SCAR stock to a FAL.Wouldn't be my choice for a folder. But Do what you must.
